Quick query for anyone with a multi fuel. I’ve decided to try smokeless coal as I want to burn longer and keep s constant heat. Wood is great and looks good, but I go through loads and it’s a fast burn.
I rely on a thermometer on my flu which tells me that I’m burning a a good heat which avoids creasote and also over firing.
Burning smokeless coal for the first time tonight, I’ve noticed that my flu thermometer is reading in the creasote bracket, but the heat in my room is similar if not warmer than that with wood. Is this a problem for my flu? Or is it that coal has a better heat output rather than sending heat up the flu? Just wondered if anyone has an differing flu temperatures when burning different fuels.

I'm in the Clearview camp...8KW is more than enough for a 10Mtrr x 5Mtr room.

We got a multi. Throws out loads of heat and not a pain to clean out, mainly coz Mr Brudefan always does it.....
