Re: Stockport Fans
The Stockport twitter account describes one of their goals today as a "goal of the season contender", complete with little laughing smiley. A back pass bobbled over the Lancaster keepers foot on a heavy pitch leaving an open goal for the Stockport player.Suffice to say Lancaster arent amused as their twitter account shows. Seems the puerile unproffessionalism still clings to Stockport even in the depths of non league...

Re: Stockport Fans
Once saw a kid with the following on the back of his Stockport county shirt:
I
8
Burnley
Would have been about 2001/2002 season. I just pitied him, as i now do with his club. He'll be about 30 now and they have been shite all his life
Let's face it, he's probably a city fan now

Stockport Express.
Someone will remember the retard journo's name, I can't. Bellend, was it?
All backfired when they started ripping the seats up at Wembley in frustration. All 8k of them.

Steve Bellis I think he was called. Went on to be on the board at Stockport, possibly CEO. Can't even be arsed googling to find out but if they had dicks like him running the club it's no wonder they tits up.

Re: Stockport Fans
Before the match at Wembley there was chatter that a Burnley fan had been stabbed. By the end of the day it was said to be a load of rubbish.
Anyone hear owt or remember owt?
(I realise that I'm 20 odd years late with this question)

Re: Stockport Fans
Went to my first england game at old trafford against austria around 2004.
Was a group of us from burnley on the tram. All talking about burnley.
Gets off. Few lads who had been sat next to us dead quiet all journey come over. 'Are you Burnley fans?' 'Yeah, why are you?' Silly **** before replying punched my mate and his mate tried to steal my shirt off my back
followed by 'No stockport!'..
'WHO?'
They were more cowardly than the stockport team of 94 and their pathetic following. They were off quicker than the two Ted McMinn wound up at wembley!
They hated burnley. But was a good crack the lower league rivalries. And I suppose its not hard to understand why so many now seemingly obscure or irrelevant teams hated us. Plymouth was another. We gave out as much as we received and more. And often in small towns with even smaller clubs. Burnley fans were never angels and having gone right down the leagues and back we practically played and ****** off all 92 plus clubs. From stockport to city to plymouth to sunderland to millwall to bradford to halifax and crewe etc.
Wolves were another.
Times have changed. For the better. But these rivalries made it worth it. Because the football was pretty **** in the main.

Re: Stockport Fans
Been hoping, these last few years or so, that my local team would go up. They've flirted with promotion a couple of times.
Or County come down another league.
Buxton could become their big rivals then.
I don't mind Stockport.
My Dad used to take me to watch a game there, now and then, when they used to play Friday nights home games.
Always found the way they decided we were their 'Hated Rivals' a bit amusing really.
Had a few dark looks wearing my Burnley shirt coming home on the train after a Clarets game by a few County fans, but never had any trouble.
Bless 'em.

Re: Stockport Fans
The problem they had was Brendan Elwood.
He 'bigged' the fans up with his plan that the club would be in the PL before the turn of the century.
They fell for it.

Re: Stockport Fans
We played Stockport at home in the old 4th Division and a group of Stockport fans ran into Yates Wine Lodge and one of them stabbed a Claret in the back of his leg - said Claret turned up at the top of the Longside 10 mins into the game all stitched up with a big hole in his jeans and giving zero *****Bin Ont Turf wrote:Before the match at Wembley there was chatter that a Burnley fan had been stabbed. Re: Stockport Fans
On a tangent, and as someone else has said, I do like that chant attributed to Pompey in the OP.
Should try to get that going at away games where the home fans are quiet.
