Potential UTC Dinner - please post if you are interested

Post by ClaretTony » Tue Jan 02, 2018 2:47 pm

It's a long time since we had a dinner but the idea has been prompted by a post recently as to what we could possibly do to help support the Bradley Lowery Foundation which suggested we could hold a dinner.

I'm not going to start planning anything unless there is sufficient support but the idea is, as previous years, to potentially hold a dinner on the Saturday evening of the last home game of the season. This is Bournemouth at home and, being the last game, will definitely be played on the Sunday afternoon so there are no worries regarding the game being moved for TV and the dinner could go ahead on Saturday 12th May.

Potential price would be between £25 & £30 for a three course meal (or four if you include coffee). It would be held at the Turf and, depending on numbers, would either be in the Jimmy Mac or the Dr Iven Suite in the Bob Lord.

I'm not asking anyone to commit at this stage, it is just a proposal, but I need to see how much, or how little, interest there is.

I'm currently thinking that any profit made from the dinner could be shared between the youth foundation and the Bradley Lowery Foundation.

If you are interested, can you please register your interest on this thread. Likewise, if you have any questions, just post them on here and I'll try to answer them.

Thanks

Definitely interested and put Ash down as by hook of by crook if I still have breath in my body I will get Ash down. Only proviso being if I have other commitments that weekend.
And if he has to be chauffered he can stay down until the start of next season.

Put Rawls, Ringo, UptheBeehole & Healywood Claret on that table as well, and you'll either be calling the Police or the Samaritans before the end of the Soup Course !! ;)

Might it be worth an edit in the OP, just a thought ?

I'm fairly sure Mrs IIuvmywife & Mrs Clarets4me would cope without us for the evening, so 2 here, with the usual caveats !

Love to come, haven't been for a while, are wives invited ?. With the cost of flying from guernsey to manchester I would like to take the game in obviously , but I do not have any points so it would be nice to get some seats.

Are wives invited? If husbands pay for them, yes.

I'm sure, if we go ahead, we'll be able to sort tickets for the Bournemouth game for those who need them.

It was claretburns who suggested a dinner, I've just found the post, and he thought a Q&A with some ex-Clarets might be a good idea. Nothing sorted yet, jdrobbo is working on a bit of a fundraiser to hold on the night but will need some ex-Clarets there.

We really need ABC to attend and make a speech. I know he lives in Wiltshire, but I live in Surrey and will be there. I really admire the way he deals with the abuse, always polite, never makes it personal. A lot on here could learn from this.
Maybe we can have a whip round to pay for his journey.

I'd let you buy me that pint first though, if I'm coming all the way from Aberdeen I'll be thirsty. ;)

Unless you're not called Steve, keeping your identity quiet might be a struggle haha.

I'd like to attend but fear for my safety, will any security and paramedics be in attendance?
