The Crowd at the Man Utd game ,Poor?
Not sure whether it’s the “tourist” thing at the big games but you’d expect the Turf to be rocking vs Man Utd but give or take the occasional chant it seemed v flat for such a big occasion. Must have had at least 3 Chinese/ Jap couples with the dreaded “half n half” scarves within a row or two of me not to mention some Dutch/Germans etc .I guess the day trippers do nullify things a bit.Even the CFS was flat ( it’s easy to knock the CFS as it’s so isolated but surprised they weren’t up for it)
While it’s not as bad as Anfield/Ethiad is it just a case of the prem slowly eroding the atmosphere even at Burnley?

Hopefully the two new exciting wingers can bring a bit of life to the Turf.

It was really poor to say that we played reasonably well. A few of us tried in the JHU but, it is so dead up there currently. Dyche has never had the same loud backing that Coyle recieved. It is shameful considering his achievements. When the Cricket Field became a home end, the exodus brought in a bunch of miserable customers as opposed to loud, feisty supporters. They aren't tourists, they are day tripping locals. I have often wondered this season if we are losing out on home advantage due to the crowd being so apathetic. Would Dean call the Lukaku foul on Mee in front of the ultras on the Yellow Wall at Dortmund? I think he would. The loudest we were was during the opprobium directed towards a misplaced pass. The exact opposite of what we needed to do and probably fair to say, how we used to be. We used to sing for Branchy! The fans need to be more vociferous because this is as good as it gets for a club like ours.

The odd goal might help.AlargeClaret wrote:Not sure whether it’s the “tourist” thing at the big games but you’d expect the Turf to be rocking vs Man Utd but give or take the occasional chant it seemed v flat for such a big occasion. It's been crap for years. The PL isn't new to us anymore which gave the atmosphere a lift in the OC season. It's the same all around the country

The results are fine but the actual football isn't as ex citing as under Coyle.
There's hundreds that stay under the concourse in the CF stand that doesn't help.

I think because we have suffered against the top teams at home. Perhaps we have become conditioned. Hell if a noise when we equalized against Liverpool.
Will be right when we score a few against the 'rest.

Re: The Crowd at the Man Utd game ,Poor?
I remember a specific game under Cotterill against Birmingham City years ago. The reason being because it was a night match, cold, and a horrible game with a low crowd. Me and my brother, who were both very vocal at the time with a few mates, and constantly tried to get songs going whenever we could (still do at odd away games), were singing songs over, and over and over at a reasonable pace. Some got going, a lot too fast and fizzled out, but we carried on, and on, and on.
At some points people were shouting ‘shut the feck up’, and ‘you annoying bastards’, but we continued. Eventually what seemed like the whole ground got into it (probably wasn’t but a lot did and sounded loud), and for a good half hour or more the singing seemed not to stop, and loud too. Made the night worthwhile.
Sometimes people have to be persistent and committed in what they’re trying to do. Unfortunately today we don’t seem to have anybody willing to make a knob of themselves for the greater good. I’m too old now and don’t have a decent spot for it, but just a good group of lads with an idea is all it takes. Focus, persistence, and don’t listen to the nay sayers. Just consistent and in a rhythm so people can and will join in. God I miss the Longside, the Stand boys (cricket fielders moved from the Longside in their 30’s) and the inventiveness of the 80’s and early 90’s.

The old cricketfield terracing is a memory now along with the longside terracing ...the atmosphere of those days are long gone for a number of reasons.

Brand of football against the top teams usually takes the atmosphere out of the stadium unless you get a goal. Take no notice plenty of winnable games coming up.

First time in Premier League history that the loudest bit was the minutes silence.....
