West Ham game

Post by channelislandclaret » Tue Mar 06, 2018 9:23 am

Great opportunity to get another 3 points on the board, noticed Reid got injured at the weekend & they recently sold Fonte, been playing Cresswell at center back, hope we start with Wood & Barnes up front as I don’t think West Ham will be able to cope with them due to there shortage of center backs

Lets hope they have Joe Hart in goal this time. Saw a stat yesterday that says he's let in an average of 2.1 goals per game this season. Pope topped the list at 0.8.

One of WHU's several supporter groups is trying to get a protest march (against the owners) going before the game. There's a little piece from this group's perspective in this month's When Saturday Comes. It looks a bit 50/50 at the moment but, if it goes ahead, it maybe worth bearing in mind re ease of getting to the stadium on the day.
I can see why some long standing Upton Parkers are a bit cheesed off with the new stadium and a few things that the owners have done but the main gripe seems to be that WHU haven't "kicked on" to become top 6 (pie (& mash) in the sky ambition).
A good chance for us here to get some more away points.

Not so long ago Fonte was playing in a very solid Southampton defence getting plaudits for his partnership with Virgil Van Dyke for a Southampton team getting into Europe. At the same time he was winning the Euros with Portugal.

Within the space of not much more than 12 months he was in contract disputes with Southampton, his agent sorting him out a move to West Ham and refusing to play for Saints. He got his big money move and was then injured...eventually when he did play he had a nightmare and had the West Ham boo boys on his back from the off.

Last few weeks he moved to the Chinese league - at the weekend he made his debut and his team got beat 8-0 !!

I hope he's enjoying his pay rise and the end of his football career !

Always a bogie team for us away and at home but the way things are going at the hammers just now gives us cause for optimism, if we can grab an early goal the boo boys will get at them and we can push on for another win. Now that Wood is back and thats what is needed, confidence is on the up and we can beat any team pl team on our day, stats are against us this coming weekend but as we all know, the stat book is well out of the window this season, so, a performance like last saturday will see us on 43 points and another campaign in the pl, what a time to be a claret.

Let's hope Arnautavic plays for them, as he did for Stoke, against us.

After getting results at Stamford Bridge and Wembley we are burning a few London hoodoos.
If we turn up with the right attitude, not like at CP, we win.

Yep, they are there for the taking if we play well. Get the ball out to our wings early, run at them, beat them, cross it in for Barnes and Wood to knock em in! Simples!

I'm getting the tube in from Epping. Anyone else is going that way?

I'd be tempted to join in a protest march against them two.
