King Power Stadium
King Power Stadium
Is this stadium as nice as it looks on T.V?
If Burnley were ever to move I would love this design and size.
The fans seems to have had no problem moving here also.

Nah, too modern. I prefer the older, more traditional ‘dog eared’ type of stadium as do, it seems, a lot of football fans.

Re: King Power Stadium
Leicester is okay, good views etc.
The atmosphere is rocking because like many other clubs they have a drummer in tbe singing section.
The whole crowd were given a plastic clacker thing in their Champions season and everyone seems happy to join in.
It wouldn't work at Burnley, too many miserable buggers and too many Luddites

Re: King Power Stadium
Its exactly the kind of stadium I would hope we would build at some point.
I get the traditionalists and the history aspects of it etc but I would be all for a full redevelopment of not just the ground but the area as its a *****hole around the ground.

Yep down Burnmore street. Very close. I don't particularly like the new stadium but there are worse newish ones.piston broke wrote:It's only 200yds away from Filbert St.

Re: King Power Stadium
It doesn’t to me - apart from those bloody clapper stick things (the English vuvuzelas) I don’t really notice any kind of fan noise at Leicester. And I’d no more welcome clapper sticks at Turf Moor to help generate ‘atmosphere’ than I would a return to goal music!Claret82 wrote:The atmosphere always seems amazing

Re: King Power Stadium
Leicester fans absolutely hated that stadium for years after they moved in. The only reason they’ve now accepted it is because they won the title in it.
It was a horrible soulless bowl to many fans for years, although the club have made improvements over the years to the outside with fancy tarpaulin type player images covering the cheap build, and have improved the main stand entrance area which now looks really good.
I’d hate to move from Turf Moor, but do think we need to spend £20-30m on a revamp of the older sides, especially the main stand which is the focal point for fans and media alike. Worst case even £2-3m cleaning the blooming thing up.

Park view pub, the buildings down towards the town centre under the culvert.

The buildings towards the town centre aren't our 'area' and not something Burnley FC can control.clarethomer wrote:Park view pub, the buildings down towards the town centre under the culvert.
I like the idea that's been previously mentioned on here about Burnley FC buying the Park View and having it as our own supporters pub.

It’s a dreadful, plastic Lego stadium. It’s the same as Southampton’s, or Swansea’s, or Cardiff, or Darlingtons.
Soulless.
The best modern grounds are those which have been redeveloped organically.
I’d rather redevelop the turf with it’s mismatched look.
It’s a reflection of who we are and what we have been through.

Re: King Power Stadium
I know that its not the clubs responsibility but was reading about Wimbledon who have worked with the local council for a new ground.
I could see something similar working where BFC could commit to fund the development of the ground and their land etc. (possibly with the help of some sponsorship and naming rights) and the council will look to do bits around the ground where they can.
My vision will not be liked by many of the traditionalists but times move on and whilst Im not one for trying to increase the capacity - redevelopment of a stadium needs to happen at some point so why not do it whilst in a successful phase of the club where we can leverage other peoples money to pay for it?

It isn't.Claret82 wrote:The atmosphere always seems amazing
It's generated by an industrial sound speaker system, the happy-clappy inflatables and a handful of berks who sing along to a designated fat drummer.
As brand new grounds go it's not bad but the atmosphere is the usual phoney, plastic soulless crap.
That would be fantastic but the current owners are Punch Taverns and they don't have a habit of selling off valuable assets without realising good profits. To put it another way, to acquire the pub I suspect Burnley FC would have to pay way over market price.Bin Ont Turf wrote:I like the idea that's been previously mentioned on here about Burnley FC buying the Park View and having it as our own supporters pub.
I wouldn't be surprised if BFC have already been discreetly knocked back by them.
Punch Taverns have a reputation for business margins which can make life tricky for inexperienced or bad landlords to thrive. However, the Park View Inn being placed where it is should provide them (and whoever takes over the tenancy) with a golden opportunity to turn it into a booming pub which is at the heart of BFC matchdays and the Burnley community as a whole.
I very nearly considered it myself but I'm not in a position to do so.

However in the last couple of years there's been quite a lot of work gone into the bowels/around both of the older stands, which I think shows that they aren't going to be pulled down anytime soon.
Re: King Power Stadium
There would be considerable merit if at Burnley we could get the same deal for a new ground that Leicester did. It's a relatively simple process of first having financial mismanagement on a gigantic scale that leads directly to Burnley going into Administration. A large section of this overspend leading to Administration is caused by colossal mismanaging of the costs of the new stadium that the Club incurs.
Having entered Administration we then get a gang of persons together who are able to take over the running of the ground as a 'freebie' yet seen as saviours who are able to convince those who are not too concerned that everything is now on a firm and honourable financial footing that all will be well. Therefore there would not be a peep of protest. Of course our club would now be miraculously debt free and all set to come out of Admin on that basis , and start again with a clean sheet, whilst looking with disdain at those trying to honour their agreements and keep out of Administration.
That is, of course, except for all those in the wake of this financial 'sleight of hand' that end up being paid a pittance towards the debts they have incurred by being suppliers to the Club, and those building the new stadium. They only receive a fraction of the money owed but the Club is able to sit back in the glow of satisfaction from admiring the new stadium that many on here seem to want to emulate.
No thanks.

Re: King Power Stadium
Not once have I said I want the club to attain a stadium like Leicester in the way that they did.
It has to financially work - hence my suggestion of getting a naming rights deal and getting a firm to commit to a sponsorship deal.
Probably sounds 'too ambitious' for a little town club like ours.
It may start as BOT suggests with the redevelopment of the 2 older stands.

Re: King Power Stadium
The atmosphere at the turf isn't great either when you really think about it.
I think this is more symptomatic of the fact that we have all seater stadiums rather them being soulless bowls. The most noise is prob generated by the CF stand and that is because they stand.

Re: King Power Stadium
These 'plastic' generated atmospheres work though. Leicester, Palace, Huddersfield are all creating a better vibe every game than places like the legendary Old Trafford.
Our home atmosphere is generally dull most games. I sit in JHU 3 and you can have a conversation at normal volume for the majority of time during a game. This myth about it being a horrible intimidating place to visit is something the majority of clubs moved away from, in several cases, decades ago. It's actually horrible for most away fans because it's like time travelling.
The game has become family oriented and like it or not it isn't going to return to the pre 1980's male dominated terracing.
