One thing is for sure, she has to go through Parliament with something like this.
Re: Syria: The Situation Escalates
I should imagine it feels like it did in the late thirties with politicians and despots itching for a fight where obviously they won't get hurt.

Twitter already seething with threats to occupy London, if this goes ahead.
I really think that will happen in a big way.

What do the Tories do when they're on their last legs?
Sign up for a war somewhere. Anywhere. Regardless of cost financially or to human life.

Re: Syria: The Situation Escalates
The West missed it's chance to get rid of Assad before Russia even got involved in Syria. Weak Lily covered leaders to blame. Too late now it's too much of a risk.
Re: Syria: The Situation Escalates
What does occupy London entail?
Is that where people who are unfit for work, go and sit outside parliament for a week until they get cold?

Re: Syria: The Situation Escalates
I'm sorry, but that is not the case. Assad and his dad have been allies of the Soviet Union (only naval base outside the Soviet Union was in Syria) since the 1950s. We are talking long term Russian allies here, possibly the most important Russian ally outside of Europe. The West missed it's chance to get rid of Assad before Russia even got involved in Syria

No she doesn't. It's been customary and then it's only a courtesy; in only recent history, I.E. the past 15 years or so. She, as so many others in history have; can exercise Royal Perogative. Come long you know what it means as I do even though it is poor American English. One comment where I do agree with Trump is that Assad is an animal.Imploding Turtle wrote:I'll agree that Putin and Assad are rational and know what they're doing. But there's nothing rational about someone who is in such a frenzy that they use terms like "gas killing animal". What does that even mean? Is Assad killing gas?

"I fail to see the point in air strikes to be perfectly honest.
Clearly the only way you are going to stop Assad gassing his own people is if you want to fight Russia.
If Putin wants to make Russia a pariah state, then just leave him to it.
All our bombs and missiles will do will make things worse, and all the possible outcomes here are not good.
Morally, of course we should do something, but we are not dealing with rational people (on both sides) here."
Fully agree with you, Lancaster. I would just say that however odious he is, Putin is a very intelligent man and has succeeded in making Russia a truly major power. The other bloke is either a real redneck with an IQ you can count on two hands or a bloody good actor.

It's surprising (not really) how little respect you have for protesters considering how often you use the term "virtue-signaller" to describe those who aren't out protesting.Damo wrote:What does occupy London entail?

Re: Syria: The Situation Escalates
Why do you use that term? Is it because you want other people to believe that when i'm saying something i'm doing it purely to signal my virtue, and not because i actually hold that belief? Because that's what it means.Damo wrote:He won't, because he's a virtue signaller
What if i decided that you should be called a virtue-signaller everytime you want to make an argument for or against something? I'm sure you have certain political beliefs that you think are a good idea and should be implemented because they are to the benefit of the wider public. Do you think your opinions should be dismissed as virtue-signalling just because you're not out demonstrating for them? And what would you think of someone who did that?
What's the point of even engaging you in any kind of discussion if instead of you putting across an actual counter argument, or instead of demonstrating why my opinion is misguided, all you do is come out with "virtue-signaller"?
You're doing nothing more than what you accuse some others of doing when they shout "racist" if someone disagrees with a black guy, you're attempting to shut down a discussion. If you want to be taken seriously, and want anyone to pay any attention to your opinions then you need to stop doing this because why should anyone even engage with you if as soon can't find a way to disagree with a policy position you're just going to accuse them of only wanting to signal how good a person they are?
I don't think you'll stop using it though, because i think you know exactly how cancerous your tactic is to a discussion, and that's exactly why you're doing it.
And of course, if i did go out and protest you'd then criticise me for that. Because you're a hypocrite.

Re: Syria: The Situation Escalates
It's also pretty funny that one right-winger on this thread is calling me someone who shares virtuous opinion purely to seem like a decent person, which obviously would require people to know who i am. And yet on another thread, involving another right-winger, i'm being criticised to sharing my opinions anonymously on an internet forum.
Maybe you people should get together and think about forming one coherent ad-hominem argument between you.

What is the point?
I'll show you stuff that has been verified by every single international organisation to do with chemical warfare under the sun, and you'll go, well, how about this then, and produce a tweet from Derek in Rotherham who thinks Sarin gas is only manufactured in Fort Derrick and its all a conspiracy by green lizards (who are of course Zionists lizards) to bring in a new dawn of Rothschild inspired something or other.
Is that fair?

Re: Syria: The Situation Escalates
This latest attack, or all these ones?
Homs on December 23, 2012.
Damascus March 13, 2013
Aleppo March 13, 2013
Aleppo April 13, 2013
Saraqeb April 29, 2013
Ghouta region August 21, 2013
Idlib province April 4 2017
Though I'm not wanting to get the west involved, that gap in the middle between 2013-2017 was when the international community got involved to sort this out.

When we've removed dictators in the past we've left a ruddy mess behind. Only today boat loads of refugees from Libya have been rescued from the med.it doesn't help in the long term leaving lawless tribal countries behind after we've finished sending in missiles.

What do you think is the percentage of interviewees who get cut off because of an ad break (of any kind) are invited back to finish their sentence at a later time?
