Read the original post and it got to me somewhat. I couldn't imagine something like that dropping on me.

I was feeling a bit melancholy that day and it kinda put things in perspective for me, so thanks for that Steve.

Enjoy watching the clarets storming Europe from that big ol' Longside in the sky. Hopefully the Twix's are free!

Cancer is a terrible way to go. I lost my maternal grandfather ten years before I was born from it. You waste away, and, although they have drugs for the pain these days, it can be excrutiating. It's something that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. The fact that he was diagnosed only 4 months ago means that it was a vigorous form, which would only make things worse. I've been to funerals where the officiating minister notes that "the pain is gone". I only truly wish that he suffered as little as possible.

Sad news. Living so close I wish we could have met and watched a game on TV together, would've been fun to cheer on the team with a fellow claret in Vancouver. RIP.

Vancouver, where, exactly, do you live? I lived in New Westminster for a few months in 1986. I played for a rugby club that no longer exists (Pocomo). There are lots and lots of Ontario transplants out there. One was almost my brother-in-law.

Thank you everybody .I am sorry I got the user name wrong .I sometimes despair about postings on this board but this has shown me that there are a lot of sincere caring people contributing .He did die peacefully .He gave me a short list of things he would like me to do on his passing and the first has been achieved.I may seek advice on one other which involves the Club .Thanks once again . God rest your claret and blue soul Steve. The original post, back in February, really hit the spot and I didn't feel that I could reply and do it justice. Really wish I had done now.

RIP Steve, keep the Claret flag flying.

Vancouver. I've never heard of Bowen Island. Must be in the Sunshine Islands. Lots of "high" living going on there. Are you a former hippy?

The beauty of social media is at play here. We’re all here in a common cause, yet only a small amount of us have met in person. But what it does is allow us to move as a single body. Most of us don’t know ClaretCanada, but we know of him, and that’s important in our Claret family terms.

RIP fellow ex-pat Claret

I remember when he posted the thread about his bad news. One of the things he posted:
ClaretCanada wrote:I feel no anger or pain at all just told 3/4 weeks
Thanks everyone for great time in here
GREAT SEASON
UTC
His final post on here was:
ClaretCanada wrote:good morning all from the most beautiful snow covered city in the world
not feeling good so just going to read your comments
come on burnley at least give me a win or two
It certainly puts things into perspective.

RIP. One of the nicest posters on here and will be missed.
