One of the best feelings in the world is when...

Post by FactualFrank » Sat Mar 10, 2018 11:50 pm

... your 6 year old nephew opts for Burnley on Fifa, when his dad is a Leeds fan.

I walk to my sister's, take my shoes off, walk into the main lounge and both my nephews are there playing Fifa 18 on the Xbox One

The immense pride, is unbelievable - and that's without them realising that Lennon isn't there!

Does anybody have other relatives who weren't Burnley fans, but are eventually, coming to?

Always nice to have a normal person reply.

I would say the only downside is that it's Fifa.. where Pro Evo I still think is the best.

Ashley Barnes scores. Love it when someone who has worked hard gets a pay off

Not related but the father of family friends who came up from London in the 60's was a Arsenal fan.
One of the 2 daughters is still Arsenal but the son,who is the youngest, has been a Burnley fan for over 40 years.

We are getting quite a following from my local bar over here in Pennsylvania. Maybe about 10 Americans who have started to watch us every week.

My brother isn't really into football so the fact that he noticed Burnley had won yesterday and then asked what the hell we're doing up in 7th place shows that we're surprising everyone :)

That must be what normal people do.
Today is Mother's Day - my mother passed away back in 2001 to cancer.

Why is it that someone who was such a nice and loving person gets Cancer, and you don't?

Answer me that one.

A few locals in Albufeira have changed their allegiance to Burnley from other PL clubs courtesy of a mate.

Been out in Hong Kong for the last 4 years. At first the staff I worked with either hadn't a clue who we were or laughed at me if they did.

Now, they're all cheering us on each week. I've said if we finish in the top 10 I'll buy them all Burnley Shirts and we'll start the HK Clarets Supporters Club. They're well excited... but my wallet isn't as there's 20 of them :D Worth it I reckon.

Shirts are always cheaper towards the end of the season, get them purchased now and save some money.

My dad went on to the Leicester match and ordered them for me. About 14 in total. We got the 50% discount and when they heard what they were for, they agreed to discount the postage too. We support a hell of a club eh?

The guys here are well excited. I'll send a picture of them all to the club and see if we can get it in the match day programme or something. Some of these guys would lose it if they were in a PL programme.

simply put, when Burnley score, they may have been playing ****, the atmosphere might be dull, your mind wanders a bit away from the game , you spot a wayward pigeon or a view of Burnley through a gap in the stands.
But out of the blue, a goal comes along, and then life becomes momentarily beautiful.
Can't beat it.

Again, not family but friends. A young man who now lives and works in Bucharest is an avid Claret along with his Romanian girl friend and their many friends and work colleagues. As a child he just followed his dad and Man Utd. but years of prompting and encouragement from my family won him round to the Clarets. He, his girlfriend and myself went on the pre-season game v. Hannover where they picked up lots of merchandise before the game to take back home. I felt a tad embarrassed to be honest when the game had to be abandoned but they really enjoyed being there. C'mon Bucharest Clarets.

Most people in Canada just don't "get" football. They want a scoring chance every minute, like in ice hockey. They don't appreciate midfield play and the ability to control the ball, without it being knocked off your stick as soon as you touch it. When I was young, ice hockey was slower, but a better game. And I hate the "click" that carbon fibre sticks made, rather than the solid "thwack" that wood made.
