Remember Trelleborgs.....!

I will take nothing for granted, to be honest the chance to go somewhere utterly mental on a Thursday night for the Qualifier is as exciting to me as any potential trip to the San Siro, Amsterdam ArenA, Stadio Olimpico or any of the others.

The sheer adventure is just going to be awesome - best present Burnley FC could have ever given us.

We're all going on a Europa holiday
No more working for a day or two
Cork and Tarky on our Europa holiday
No more Orient's for me and you
Cos we're Claret and Blue

We're going where the Clarets shine brightly
We're going where the flag is blue
We've all seen it on the tellies
Now let's see if it's true

Everybody has a Europa holiday
Doing things that could not be true
So we're going on our Europa holiday
To make our dreams come true
For we're Claret and Blue

Europ not guaranteed at all....

Post by groove » Sat Apr 28, 2018 11:57 pm

All this talk about 7th place to get in Europe, is everyone forgetting that we would be in the 3rd qualifying round, a 2 legged tie against a side that must have already won a couple of games to get to the 3rd qualifying round? Or have I got it wrong and we go straight into the group stage? Cheers chaps UTC

So, what you're saying is - we'll be playing 2 legs of a qualifying round.... one of which will be abroad.

Meaning we will be playing in Europe?

I believe we won't be allowed in the competition anyway, because Burnley voted for Brexit.

Which ever way you slice it. It's Europe.

In fact, you could argue, that every game we've ever played has been in Europe!

Ahh right. You lot are viewing the qualifying round as playing in Europe. We are guaranteed a qualifier against a foreign side. If we win that, we are in Europe. Not before imho.

As it is before March next year a game against Oswaldtwisle Casuals would be in Europe.

Come on matey, I've just got in and got the house to my self. All we've talked about since the final whistle blew is where we'd want to go! Don't rain on my parade!

7th in the prem.

1 defeat in 8

New signings and upgrades to come.

European footy next season

As a Burnley fan, does it actually get any better!!!???

If we draw one of the Israeli sides and get knocked out, will we have played in Europe?????? The mystery deepens!

Israel was admitted to UEFA in 1991.
So in footie terms, they're European.

You're right that we don't go straight into the group stage, but you're wrong in your belief that the Europa League isn't a European competition until the group stages.

What if we’re playing TNS or similar? Does that count as Europe?

As long as I have to cross a vast amount of water by boat or plane I’m classing it as going into Europe to watch the clarets. If we get knocked out in the qualifying rounds so be it, but that opportunity, that trip and this whole season will live long in my memory and be placed right up there alongside, York, Wembley x2, Beating the Rovers hoodoo and Charlton in moments I will cherish.

The “qualifying” name is purely for the group element of the competition.

Every single round is within this competition. It’s european football. :D

Now that Uefa have qualified their rules so that we know 7th equals Round 2 of the Qualifying comp, we need to do everything possible to finish above Arsenal to go into the Group stage.

Man U can do us a favour today, Arsenal have away games v Leicester (9th) and Huddersfield (13th), neither of which are a given. We have a home game v Bournemouth to finish on 13th.

3 points behind - assuming Arsenal lose today - a win by us at the Emirates next Sunday means its down to the last 2 games (them) and last game (us). There is still a lot to play for! If they lose to Man U and to us they can only finish on 63 points; with 2 wins we can get to 60. So they would need to win 1 out of their 2 remaining away games to confirm 6th, and with the distraction of Europa League in between.

So we need maximum effort (and support) to win our last 2 games, especially if Arsenal lose today. Two wins for us vs a loss and 2 draws for them will do it! And that is quite possible given Arsenal havent won an away point in 2018.

I think the slim chance of sixth disappeared with yesterday’s draw really.

So all we'll find out on 19th June is that we'll be playing either for example Lech Poznan or Shamrock Rovers, dependent on the first qualifying round. At least we'll know when we are playing the away leg so we can get the days booked off work etc. Then it will just be a mad scramble to book flights as soon as the outcome of the first round is known!

For this season. Not as lucrative as the CL but not to be sniffed at.

Winners – €6.5m (£5.77m)

well, we have the above sum to look forward to swelling our club coffers in a few short months.

Has there been any discussion between the club and supporters groups on ticket allocation? How on earth do they manage 500 ticket allocation in Norway with 10,000 wanting to go?!

Just been reading about the second qualifying round. It seems like a massive slog to just get to the group stages so we're gonna have to enjoy it whilst we can, it might only be a short European stint.

No, I'm just remarking upon the difficulty of the competition from this round onwards. We could literally be playing just two games in Europe. All this hype for what could potentially be nothing.

Then if we get through that there's heaps more qualifying to do, before the actual group stages.

There's the 3rd qualifying round then the play off round THEN the group stages.

I'm gonna just enjoy every minute.

Only three 2 legged ties for us to get to the group stage. Not exactly the long slog some are making out.

Don't know about 10,000 wanting to go, but I could see a few thousand making the trip to Belgium/Spain/Portugal/Germany/Holland/France if we get a decent draw.

Can I pay on the day for the first home leg?

If the draw for 2nd round were to be made now we could possibly be facing one of Getafe, Leipzig, Atalanta, AZ Alkmaar, St. Etienne, or Braga.

Don't think so.

If the location is good there will be thousands happy to travel and just have a few days with mates or family on the p*ss and watch it in the bars. Dont be fooled by opinions on here as this board has a high % of obsessive fans for whom attending the game and the result will be paramount. There are plenty who would just use it as a summer break, a massive party and enjoy the novelty of going into Europe with the Clarets

I can definitely see close to 10k travelling for the first away leg if it is in a decent sunny European counrty and city but after the first game barring a massive game against really famous club id guess it will level out at around 2k fans if we continue to progress

I think we will always be unseeded as it works off club coefficient rather than country, so we have zero points assuming they don’t go back to the 60’s!

A good barometer would be Blackburn to a small extent. They took 3-400 to a couple of games, 6-700 to 2 or 3 more, and 1,000 to another (Nancy?). Their largest following was the 2,500 sell out at Feyenoord, where they all claim now they had 4,500 when they only got 2,500 tickets.

I’d have thought after the first game or two over the summer months, where we’d likely want thousands of tickets?, novelty would wear off to the high hundreds? It’s not cheap.
