On Sunday, my bag was searched and I was told I couldn't take a can of pop into the ground. Not being thirsty at that moment it went in the bin. But I didn't buy food or drink inside the ground so it all seemed a bit petty. Is that normal practice?

Things may have been quite different if Joey was struck by a full can of pop instead of a half used plastic bottle of pop - that's the reason for it.

It's illegal to have a drinks can in a football ground. It's not a ground regulation, it's the law. I think it isn't because of throwing potential, it's because of tearing it in half and using like a knife potential. I think glass bottles are barred, for the same reason. Plastic bottles aren't a problem.

You can't take cans in but some clubs will allow you to take in plastic bottles. I often have a need to take water in with me and Burnley, I can confirm, have no problem with it. Watford and Arsenal recently have been particularly helpful.

I had to make do on Sunday with a pie wrapped in tinfoil my dad had done for me. Got patted down on the way in too, but the steward loved it that I had a pie in my pocket.

they do seem to have a lot of it in abundance...sprinklers are on every half-time - even when raining!

This is because the can could be used as a missile or cut in half to make two formidable weapons and even the ring tops could be used as a knuckle duster. So if you don't mind sir could you please place it in the bin where it will be disposed of.
