Why do some folk find it difficult to understand that a player doesn't work out for us for whatever reason?
Dyche is a good judge but he's no clairvoyant.

Shame about the Injury but good luck to the lad, certainly don’t think there is any hard feelings between him and anyone at the club.Regarding the initial signing it was a no brainer really, but I think now the lad might struggle after a long injury think it kills you that bit more when your older.Maybe take him half a season to get going, but he won’t get the game time here.No good riddance from me good luck though.

He is a good player nearing the end of his career. Burnley has helped him through the bad injury ...Should he have played for Ireland carrying an injury? He now needs first team, regular football, aged 34. Good call to look elsewhere.
Good luck to the lad.

He should not have played for Ireland
Just like Chris Wood should not have played for NZ.
Both were injured and put country before club. Not sure why we let either go - I know they both had massive games for their country but if you are injured you are not helping anyone

I can see some Championship sides being interested doubt we'll get a huge amount, but moving Walters on would free up wages and a squad place for any incoming signings,It appeared that Sean felt he would be an impact player from the bench, sadly due to injury we will never know how effective he could have been.I guessing this news means that Sam is staying put for another season otherwise we will be short up front with just Woods and Ashley as first choice strikers.

Who is Woods? He's been at the club for a year and his surname is made up of 4 letters yet people still can't get it correct, seriously what hope does the future generation have?

cricketfieldclarets ......... " You can't underestimate the importance of good characters around the place - even more important if they arent involved! "
Of course you can, and that's precisely what's happening here.

Aye, because we can only work with what we have, and will not sign any new players.

He was a very good player for Stoke. We signed him and he got injured, so now he's a "terrible signing". Like Barnes was, or virtually every player in the team that finished 7th. Pope? Pah! Heaton who is he? Mee from City reserves, really. Westwood from relegated Villa, Jeez. Vokes? Journeyman.
Walters is a good player who got injured after he signed for us. That does not make him a bad signing.

Moving on will be in the best interests for all parties. Can’t see him getting close to our starting XI
Unlucky with the injuries but hasn’t featured with us at all so best of cutting out losses and allowing Walters to get some playing time.

A reasonable signing this time last year but Barnes' improvement and constant injuries meant Walters got no chance to perform. Time to move on for all parties.

It certainly helps highlight the whoppers by having a Walters thread. Some seem really pleased the signing didn't work out.

ClaretAndJew wrote:Whilst I've had my fair share of criticism's of some signings, it's unfair to say Walters was a bad one.
Whatever impact he had on the pitch, he may very well have had more impact off it.
Just because he didn't play much when we finished 7th doesn't mean he didn't contribute. He could have offered advice or just a shoulder for other players, giving them confidence before a game or something similar.
He was brought in for his dressing room presence, and considering we finished 7th, it worked, whatever his contribution.
But he wasn’t brought in for his dressing room presence , he was brought in because he was a proven Premier League striker, granted he was passed his best but he was still decent.Wells on the other hand is still a mystery.

Definitely the right kind of player and character to add to the squad 12 months ago. He’s been really unlucky with injuries and during that time we have shown we have been more than ok without him. Therefore, it’s probably a natural progression for us to look at giving his squad place to someone who’s going to push the first XI a bit more and it’s good for JW to look for regular first team football somewhere at his age. I’m sure whoever gets him will be very lucky - even at 34 years old.

You have picked two players one who didn’t play due to injury and another who was injured when he joined and then didn’t get near the first 11 due to the form of the strikers playing . Oh and those said strikers happened to be part of a team that finished 7th!
David Jones was an excellent signing unless you are talking about David Jones Mk 1 but I doubt you are.

I think he is talking about David Jones Mk 1.... Not sure why you would doubt that.

Yes I definitely meant David Jones the midfielder who played a huge part in our recent success over David Jones the striker who struggled to kick the ball!

.....and also struggled to even have the co-ordination to clap his hands above his head whilst running onto the pitch.
