Until I see video footage of football fans fighting around the stadium like we saw in France, it will be deemed a great World Cup off the field.

lol. There was nothing argumentative about what i said. Cricketfield said something that implied he didn't know what's actually happening off the pitch, i simply corrected him. Why does correcting someone have to be considered argumentative all the time?

I don't recall you having a good laugh about how all crime in Liverpool on a matchday is because of football.

It's different with some victims though, i suppose.

No because there is video evidence that violence occurred, I'm yet to see any video evidence of football violence in Russia.

Absolutely. If Shaqiri can get one or two chances in a similar position to Coutinho. Can see the swiss trying to win some set pieces around the box.

But fo Coutinhos bit of magic there might be a bit more pressure and panic on brazil.

Second half should be good. Both have to come out and go for it for different reasons.

There we go. Gave a cheap corner away down the left and shaqiri set piece punishes them.

South Korea coach saying his players didn’t wear the shirt to match their name in their final two warm up games.
The reason: Westerners can’t tell Asians apart. Now if Southgate said that he'd be in deep doodoo.
Clever all the same as the Swedish coach has admitted spying on them in a closed training session.

You wanted video footage of the gay guy being attacked before you'd believe it happened, yet you don't have that requrement of the Liverpool fan.

Maybe if he was gay you would.

I wonder which game will see the first sending off? Refs seem to be fairly level headed on things at the moment.

There's not really been a need for one either, of the games i've seen. Not obvious red card challenges, and if there were, but missed, they'd have been reviewed. Good discipline so far.

Think a coms quote on the earlier game said this was the longest 'red card's free beginning to a World Cup.
Might be correct. But did wonder where his tournament starting point was from.

The elite sides certainly don’t look as far away as I was expecting quality-wise. However I’d still back Germany, Brazil, France, Spain and Portugal to beat us in a knockout game.

I'm English born and bred but with Scottish ancestry, living North of the border, most of the natives are feigning disinterest in the World Cup,but that might change if England lose tomorrow.

Sweden v s Korea. Game being spoiled by diving and feigning injury. The ref is falling for it all AND blowing for every petty incident.

It's pretty poor we have to watch sides like Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Panama etc in a World Cup, this is supposed to be the best International teams in the World yet I'd back Italy's reserve team to easily beat the lot of them. They're all playing for a draw and have no chance of reaching the last 8.

This ref is useless. A real “bottler”. Has been blowing up for petty nonsense all day long and shirks from giving a penalty when the Swede gets clattered in the area.

The issue about the penalty for me was that the Swede made a meal of the contact, but yes - it was a clear penalty

It's just a crap flawed qualification system, Ireland had to play Denmark in the playoffs to qualify meanwhile Iran had to playoff against Syria. The Champions League have the qualification system done well, teams like Celtic who get a free pass but they still have to go through the qualification system to make the group stages. Why is it fair that Sweden have to play against Italy in the playoff game to qualify but Iran get to play Syria, Peru get to play against New Zealand, Australia play Honduras.

I don’t think FIFA hide the fact that they try to get a number of representatives from all of the continents and that this means some better teams from Europe or S America will lose out to minnows from Asia, the Pacific, etc
