Right.
Dodgy pen to Croatia. Scores.
A Shouldn't-have-been-given FK whistles into the top corner. 4-4

Game on. 8-)

We should buy Ivan Perisic. He is a real SD player.

He currently plays for Inter and Jose is wanting to get him at ManU, but he might like omelettes so could still have a chance

Pretty sure United were chasing Perisic all last summer but Inter were asking for too much money. Think it's safe to say he's out of our price range. Maybe we could offer them Walters and Nahki Wells as a sweetener?

France defensive playing on the break and it's worked. If we played like that we would be criticized no doubt.

I notice the referee pulled back a free kick taken quickly by the Croats. Unlike what happened against us at Man City in the cup.

Rileybobs, I am sure that the whole French nation will think so, however, I am with you because they have been gifted two goals.
It was a good game though and interesting to think that the French hierarchy were not too happy with Deschamps before the finals started.

The penalty may have been soft but the free kick was just that.

I think that Lovren, as one of the world's best defenders, did extremely well to limit France to 4 goals.

Half a football brain or not, they do manage to create plenty of opportunities for him to run at his full-back, and somehow create space on the right most of the match

France's first shouldn't have been a free kick, but why it's not gone down as Griezmann's goal? It was on target, usually if the ball is on target and gets a touch or deflection off a defender it's credited to the striker not the defender.

The first goal looked offside as well. I'm sure the French forward who challenged for the ball was in an offside position when the kick was taken.

If FIFA loved controversy, they would change the rule like you say. Then you'd get the controversy over whether the ball brushed the player's finger or not; whether the chest trap brushed his sleeve as it bounced off his shirt; whether the ball that hit the shoulder hit the part of the arm that counts as handball or not. And bearing in mind that (shoulders being attached the way they are) it is physically impossible to keep your arms tucked away when facing an opponent, it would become a tactic to aim at the arm of any player trying to block a shot in the hope of getting a touch on the sleeve.

I think if FIFA loved controversy then we still wouldn't have goal-line tech.

What happened to the giving of an indirect free-kick for accidental/ unintentional handball in the box?

No such thing as an indirect free kick for handball so should never be awarded, you just play on if your decision is that it was accidental.

I really think that we should tape all outfield players' arms to their side and watch them play like subbuteo figures and that may alleviate the problem. ;)

England and Uruguay (although their 1950 win was through round robin rather than a final) still the only teams with 100% record in Final of a World Cup.

Croatia join Netherlands (x3), Czechoslovakia (x2), Hungary (x2) and Sweden in losing finals.

Germany (runners up four times)
Argentina (runners up thrice)
Brazil (runners up twice)
Italy (runners up twice)
France (runners up once)
