Most of them were students there themselves. So probably learnt from their experiences... Bieletwoicz, Pollard, possibly even Ashworth all went to Barden (as you will know). Even Scholes had mellowed.

It's because people send their kids out to PLAY while they go down the pub.
Leaving the kids to whatever the **** they want.
Oh and being lower middle class but voting Conservative, thus cutting off their own dicks! And school funding.
I blame the Daily Mail.....carry on getting dumber!

I love the way the first two lines of this post sounds just like a Conservative voter writing to the " Daily Mail ", blaming modern day parenting and lack of discipline in the home....

The second two lines then go on to blame people for voting Tory, and er ....reading the " Daily Mail " !! ;) ;)

I probably have a different take on this.I worked at IvyBank in the late 80s .It was a lively school but had alot of very enthusiastic staff and students.
I then went back down South and then came and worked in Habergham in the last year before the ill fared BSF came in.I spent six years at the John Madejski Academy in Reading.John put £26m of his own money in to build a new school.Lancashire CC wanted investors to sponsor their new schools. No came forward amd a hastily cobbled together mess ensued.
Staff were recruited from good schools and then these former good schools died on their feet

I was at Habergham between ‘86 and ‘91 and ther was a good mix of people from different ethnic backgrounds. It never felt like there was any real racism issues and most people got on. I feel that the racism that happened later on was a reflection of what was going on in Burnley in general and possibly on a national level that wasn’t helped by the schools merging.

Incidentally, there is a great whole school picture from 1983 with a lot of the old teachers on there.

Hated school but glad I went Teds, wouldn’t change that for anything. Still best mates with the same gang 13 years after I left, some belting teachers and very few bad ones.

Glad I wasn’t around when they merged, know quite a few of the old school senior teachers from Teds and it’s sad to hear the stories.

Haven’t a clue where I’ll send my children yet, glad I’ve a good few years for things to change
