So what I derived from that was;

1. It's safer than London.

2.

Here's a couple of things to do whilst we're up there next week watching the boys, especially if you're up there a few days...

Aberdeen is grim.

Get up there get the draw and get back down south. It's a hole.

Probably grimmer than Burnley...just bigger...more of it.

Kendalrobbo. Are you staying at the Jurys in the city centre? If so you are in a prime locationfor all the amenities. A bit of a heads up for you, there's a cracking little pub across the road from Jurys, called Aitchies.

Cheers Razer, yes staying in city centre. Will the locals be friendly to colours on show on the walk up to the ground, and is it much of a walk? UTC

Shouldnt have any problems walking up to the ground. Busy city centre with lots of shoppers , but it is quite a hike from Jurys.(about 30mins)
Buses are easy enough if your not up for it. Every 10 mins from Union st.

Really looking forward to it. Up to travelodge Dundee Wednesday, match in Arbroath that evening. Up to Aberdeen, stay travelodge Bucksburn. Back down to travelodge Dundee Friday. Match at Livingston on Saturday before returning to Sheffield. Be nice to see Dundee, Aberdeen, Arbroath and some of the scenery around the area! :D

A few other clarets staying at travel lodge bucksburn. If you need any info on how to get to grounnd and back just let me know. Don't think you will need much help, not with that itinery. You should have a great time although Livingston is a bit of a concrete jungle.

I don't know why I'm probably too sensitive, but I find it somehow disrespectful to describe somewhere (anywhere) as a shithole, the same as I would if someone described Burnley as a shithole. Also bearing in mind there will be Aberdeen folk viewing this, I think it reflects poorly on us as supporters. By the way I've been to Aberdeen and I liked it!
As I say, probably me being too sensitive, but there you go that's what I think!

I’m always wary of anyone describing another town as a shithole in a manner that suggests that they hark from Monaco or somesuch place.

I'd suggest that most people describing Aberdeen as a **** hole haven't actually been there. It's not a bad city at all and, like every other city, has good areas and bad areas.

There is a chain of chippies called the Ashvale. They are dotted allover Aberdeen and the surrounding areas. The nearest one to you will be on Great Western rd. Try the Ashvale Whale! A lot of people swear by the Dolphin chippie just off Union st towards Holburn st. Hope that helps Rowls.

There is a brew dog quite close to the ground , but regulations regarding children are a lot stricter than in England.

Prince of Wales and Illicit Still are a 2 minute walk back from Castlegate, have a kids menu and are less of a pub.

Avoid King Street and Market Street. Castlegate set up looks like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJHEozuuSsE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The escort from Castlegate to the ground will probably get the heart pumping if they take you down King Street.

Thanks for that super dandies. I was trying to think of some decent pubs near Castlegate. There's a couple on Schoolhill also. Wordies and Triple Kirks. You're right about King st and Market st. Best avoided. But I still think Castlegate is a cop out.

Hi rayzer - We're not stopping in Dyce, just heading straight for the centre of Aberdeen and been advised to drink around Castlegate area.

First thing I come in peace, been a Dons supporter since I was old enough to go to Pittodrie on my own. I have been lurking on here since we found out we would be playing Burnley, I have come to the conclusion your not a bad bunch so would like to give some information on things to see and do while you are in Aberdeen,
The castlegate are will be wher all the tavling fans should meet,there are plenty of watering holes there, for the ones that are interested the maritime museum is only a short walk from the castlegate, it's free and there is a cafe in the building you could spend a few hours in there no problem, Aberdeen has a truly fantastic maritime history. For the ones that are not to clostrifobic the tollbooth is worth a visit free again, this is on union street just up from the weather spoons pup Archibald Simpsons less than 2 minutes from the castlegate. I think all the burnley fans will get a police escort up King Steet up to Pittodrie that is what hapend to th Gronegen fans. have a pleasant time while up here let's hope the weather hold. COYR
