If he scores enough and they stay up, that's good business..
Re: Mitrovic cost
He did very well at Fulham last season so not surprised they have signed him up on a permanent basis

Re: Mitrovic cost
Looks like they are signing Matt Target as well for 15 million.
There summer signings have cost over 100 million if that goes through.

Wouldn’t say the signings they have made garuntee they stay up. It just helps.
They have a great starting X1 but as we all know it is all about squad depth

Re: Mitrovic cost
Fulham owner net worth: 7.3 Billion
Bunrley owner net worth: 80 Million
Fans wonder why we aren't closing deals early or why agents might sit on their hands and call other clubs...

I’d rather just have £80 million and not look like a cross between Luigi and a Persian rug seller.

If I was worth 7.3 billion I'd probably have a massive moustache. Infact I'd probably give up shaving altogether

a) he doesn't score goals,or
b) they don't stay up?
Is it still good business?
If only you could guarantee a desired result by throwing money about. Unfortunately it isn't that simple.

Re: Mitrovic cost
In regard to football only, I've no idea if £22m is a lot of money anymore.
The fees and wages seem to be going up loads, while the TV deals are stagnating. I'm sure it'll all be fine.

Re: Mitrovic cost
It is a lot of money, but to Fulham he's not an unknown quantity; he's settled at the club and had a good season last year albeit in the Championship. Added to the fact that he's only 23, played & scored at the world cup and has nearly a 1 in 2 ratio for Serbia (40 caps (17 goals)...is 22 million really that crazy in this market? Perhaps a little overvalued, but I wouldn't put it in the 'crazy' section.
Re: Mitrovic cost
Decent player and quite similar to ash,got age on his side but don't think there is much in them regarding talent.

Re: Mitrovic cost
I really like Ashley Barnes, but I think in terms of pedigree and potential their respective values are somewhat different. I know Barnes offers much more than goals, but Mitrovic's international record aside their goal tallies are as follows:
Barnes (28 years)
321 App - 77 goals
Before his time at Burnley he spent time at Plymouth, Torquay and Brighton among others.
Mitrovic (23 years)
250 Apps - 98 goals
Partizan, Anderlecht, Newcastle
Even in 2015/16 for Newcastle at the age of 20, he scored 9 goals in 36 appearances when Newcastle came 18th and got relegated. And he had a 1 goal in 2 game ratio for Anderlecht. As I say I think Barnes offers us a lot, but I can absolutely see why Fulham spent the money.

You could apply this argument to us signing Wood last yearchekhov wrote:And if,

Re: Mitrovic cost
Id' say Mitrovic is better than Barnes (maybe not specifically for us) but even if you rated them the same id guess most people would laugh if Fulham offered us £20m for Barnes and would expect our club to tell them where to go in no uncertain terms.bfc1984 wrote:Decent player and quite similar to ash,got age on his side but don't think there is much in them regarding talent.

Re: Mitrovic cost
If Fulham go down, with the money they're spending, they should give up.
I know people who don't like football and have never watched the game, yet they could keep Fulham up.

Re: Mitrovic cost
Suppose there is a point to say mitrovic is slightly better. But comparing ash's career Torquay etc to now doesn't work for me.Barnes was better than ever last year a real player.Just think we overrate foreign players (myself included) but on the face of it I think Barnes will do more for Burnley than a mitrovic.
