Excellent news. Top player. Doesnt get the recognition he deserves simply because of how good his predecessor was.

Good news, has done brilliantly to make that spot his own after following in Trippier's footsteps.

Been excellent. Great news for the club. Bet he'll have his detractors again if he makes his normal slow start to the season though :-)

Really happy to hear this, quality player all round. His throw ins always make me smile.

He puts on that innocent little boy lost look, casts around for his intended target. He throws the ball and only then do you realise he has walked half way up the pitch. Matt is our equivalent of Oliver and the Artful Dodger rolled into one, dipping into the pockets of the opposition for some extra yardage.

My only concern is that clubs might decide to place cameras on the half way line and if that happens he will never make it into the final third. Loves a camera opportunity our Lowton. I'm not sure what will happen when VAR is introduced to the Premiership, the opportunity to see himself on camera during a game might change his playing style completely :)

Not the 'new' signing I've been hoping for but a very welcome one all the same. Lowton was brilliant last season.

Vokes Mee and Hendrick.
Suggests that Vokes and Hendrick not offered or at moment mulling over extensions. We know about Ben.
The official site says 6 players already agreed extensions. Think they may be Pope,JBG, Tarks,Barnes,Long, and was it Ageyi or Lindegaard?

Stephen Defour has signed up for another 2 or 3 years hasn't he?

No he hasn't OOC next summer but we can exercise an option for an extra season to the summer of 2020.

There are 6 "senior" players whose contracts are up at the end of this season plus Agyei (as pointed out above, Defour and Ward are also OOC but we have the chance to add a further year)

Based on our recruitment so far this summer we could be down to the bones when 2019/2020 starts

So it is Vokes Mee Hendrick and Defour who are out of contract at the end of this season
Although I would be surprised if we didn't exercise an option for Defour to stay for another season

We are certainly offering Hendrick a contract. We wouldn't let a £10 million signing walk away for nothing!

He will walk, if he decides to (not exactly looked at his best in the No 10 role which SD seems to prefer for him)

Would like him to stay but the ball is in his court

This is the problem when players enter their last year - the Lowton signing negates this uncertainty when there are 2 years still left on existing contracts

We have not looked back since he came into the team at Hull when Sean finally saw the light, including getting Ben back to cb.

Worrying that Vokes and Hendrick could walk for free.

Not even thinking about Mee, thays 20m plus of player in todays transfer market we could lose for nothing. Also two players who are a big part of the squad.

Hendrick has his detractors. Me included. But he as an important player who when played in cm offers a lot.

ss

I`d walk Hendrick anywhere for free ;) . In all seriousness though, he really has struggled (in my opinion) since Eire failed to reach the World Cup and maybe more importantly post-Brady`s injury. Ever since then the impetus has been on him to create in the final third which has normally resulted in the attacking impetus being lost. There IS a very good player in there to be sure, to be sure and he has shown that on occasion (he had won me over prior to the two `situations` mentioned above). I genuinely think he will struggle until Brady relieves the burden (that`s not going to happen anytime soon it appears) or he is released from his incredibly unnatural advanced midfield/No.10 position into a slightly more withdrawn role.
