Lenny Johnrose
Lenny Johnrose
Just seen an interview on Twitter where he says he's been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. It's scary how for someone so fit and healthy to be diagnosed with such a horrible disease. Thoughts with Lenny.

Very sad news. I lost my cousin to this last year. She was only in her mid 40s. Truly awful disease.

I've had the pleasure of interviewing Lenny when he was a Claret (just before our final day match versus Coventry) and he was an absolutely lovely guy - my best wishes to him and his family going forward.

Poor bloke. I hope he faces his illness with the same fortitude he used to put into his on-pitch battles with Sean Gregan.
Good luck, Lenny.

An awful condition which there is no cure.
Unfortunately most people with ALS do not live past 5 years after diagnosis.

What a savage blow, to get that diagnosis. Sickening disease. Often swift.
Best wishes to Lenny and his family, in dealing with its progress.

Terrible news.
I lost my Mum to MND and she fought with courage that Lenny surely will.
One of my favourite Burnley moments of all time was Lenny's crunching tackle, in the corner between Beehole and Longside, on Trevor Challis for Bristol Rovers I think. Better than a goal.
All the best big guy.

Loved that as well but what made it more special was he made the challenge in the corner and then possibly much less than 15 seconds later Lenny just missed with an header on their penalty spot.Guich wrote:Terrible news.

Dreadful news and only 48 too.
Re: Lenny Johnrose
Shocking. Hopefully with all this stem cell and gene therapy research going on wicked illnesses like this will be curable in the not to distant future.

A really lovely bloke. He battle the odds to make it in football after tough early years. I used to work with a bloke who was like a step dad to him.... he remained close even after "making it". Wish him all the very best with his latest challenge.

Ah that's a real shame, I'm sure he'll fight it all the way. Always seemed like one of the guys determined to make the absolute most of all the talent he had.
Re: Lenny Johnrose

Re: Lenny Johnrose
He gave his all for the cause in a team which was struggling at the time. I always remember his wife ringing up the radio Lancs phone in one Saturday night asking the fans to be patient with the team and with him in particular as they WERE trying to put things right. That took some guts tbh.

If you Spoonerise it, his name, Jenny Lohnrose, would have made a cracking daytime tv presenter’s name.

Saw the article on the BBC website, my brother in law is currently struggling with this horrid disease which is advancing rapidly now 18 months after diagnosis. To see a fit man withering away due to this rotten condition is truly awful.
All the best Lenny.

Be good to play a sort of combined Lancashire team from all the clubs he played for hereMurger wrote:Just read on Twitter that Burnley and Swansea are hoping have a fundraising match.

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sp ... -reaction/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; what a horrible thing to happen to a great guy, can we not get a lift fitted in the jhs? As Lenny says his not being able to commentate on the clarets is the thing he misses the most! Also it would be used by others with walking disabilitys in the future if a lift could be fitted.
Re: Lenny Johnrose
We are building a purpose built disabled supporter facility/stand. I assume lift(s) incorporated.
Should easily be possible to equip a media space for Lenny and others with disability.
