Guy Martin

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Wed Aug 29, 2018 10:53 pm

Just been watching 'Our Guy in' series (Russia, Latvia, India and China). Can't believe I havent seen much of him before but highly recommended. This series is like a less miserable Idiot Abroad. Funny, interesting and inspiring all in one.

If you want something light hearted and havent seen this its on 4 on demand. Proper likeable chap too. 8-)

Anyone anything similar about at the minute as Ive seen all these now?

His ‘speed’ programmes are good too. There was a formula one where he raced Button, on TV the other night.

He Fred Dibnah on acid!!

Yep, as dcwat says, Fred dibnah, but for the modern era.

Loves machines. Check out his Vulcan bomber episode.

Proper likeable, which helps. Not at all “shiwbizzy” and hasn’t let this fame thing go to his head.

I suppose you could call him a “blokes celebrity”.

I think I've seen all of his series and found most of them very entertaining. Recommended.

The bit in Chernobyl when he fixed that feisty old lady's gate was fairly life-affirming TV.

Believe he still works as a mechanic at Scania dealers in Grimsby and drives his transit van everywhere.
Comes across as a likeable down to earth chap.

A very entertaining bloke: in his books, however, he does tend to come across as a" professional" Lincolnshire lad, overdoing the "I'm just an ordinary bloke, me." schtick a little.
It grates a bit at times but he's interesting nonetheless.

First time I saw him on tv I think he was doing up a canal barge.

He’s brilliant.

This quote is brilliant as well

“I have nothing against football. It just seems very wasteful losing two hours of my life to watch 22 millionaires on TV chasing a bag full of wind in their underwear.”

Very likeable bloke, down to earth.

It’s a year or two back now and not sure if it’s available on catch up anywhere but he did a fascinating 1 hour documentary on a complete Spitfire restoration.
Well worth a look if you can find it.

Lancaster of all people beat me to it :D

He's a pretty good road racing motorcyclist as well. Howeve, he never managed to win a TT even though he was certainly good enough.
