Fifa Awards

Post by claretburns » Tue Sep 25, 2018 8:46 am

Mo Salah won the Puskas award last night for goal of the year for his below strike against Everton. Seriously?? We can't find a better goal than this?

They need to spread the awards around the top players, they dont advertise a glitzy awards evening with all the stars present, to then give the award to Barry Smith of league 2.

They'll be a better goal than that scored this weekend most probably.

I know it is stating the obvious but FIFA is still corrupt, allegedly.

Watch the last half hour. What shite. Elba can not present for a start.

Some dutch fella, something Thy won the fair play award after making himself unavailable for a game to give blood. Showed video of the scenes at the stadium and both sets of fans holding up banners etc. He was also made motm even though he didnt play. When picking up the award most people couldnt be arsed clapping.

The most touching moment was when the brazilian lady won player of the year. A fantastic speech. Ronaldo was smiling ear to ear (as all the Brazil guys were) Ronaldinho was actually in tears.

How that (or any goal) can beat an overhead bicylce kick in the Champions League final is beyond me.

Watched the first half hour and turned off. Thought it was very badly put together. Elba was poor, it lacked coordination. To be honest Lineaker would have been a much better host. How did de Gea not figure in the three best goalkeepers is beyond me.

It was cringeworthy television for sure.

A room full of prima dona multi millionaires who either had zero sense of humour, could not understand a word or both.

Elba was simply awful - clearly doing it for the money and could not be bothered to rehearse his script. Embarrassing.

Everybody who came on to give the awards were also there for the money - they were without exception awful aswell. Noel Gallagher making unfunny jokes about United.

Even the awards themselves were mostly a joke. Courtois keeper of the year but not in the team of the year. Salah best goal of the year when there were at least 6 better to choose from. Even Modric winning it is strange - yes he is a great player and had a great World Cup but this is for the all year and there is no way he was the best player in the world during that period.
Messi & Ronaldo did not even turn up.

The only good bit as mentioned was the Brazilian woman who won footballer of the year....she was great. I say “she” but those shoulders were bigger than Antony Joshua’s !

Other than that it was a quality programme - and just goes to show I’ll watch any sh-ite if it’s got some football in it !
