Can we put all our eggs in the Brady, defour basket?
A lot of people seem to believe the only hope is Brady and defour returning. While I believe defour will still have that flair and ability to pick a pass, they have both had very serious injuries/ operations! How do we know whether they will be the same players?
Do you think dyche and the board will be looking for more players in January, or is it gonna be a budget window and hope we scrape through another season?

Regardless of the aforementioned duovreturning, I’m very, very confident that we’ll add to the squad in January!

I have heard a rumour that we are keeping back Brady until february. It is so that in January the board and SD can tell us we dont need a signing as Brady is on his way back

Defour won't last 60mins that's if he's played, Brady will probably play like Lennon for at least 10 games till he finds his feet.
As for the Jan window, well!!! We all know the excuses already.. chasing the carrot which wba will dangle in front of us.

We have managed to achieve 8 points without them having played pretty tosh for the most part. Having them back can’t make us any worse.

Lennon has been excellent in the last few games and seems to have put his health issues behind him.

I agree! I think lennon gets a bad rep, but his work defensively in the last few games has been vital, his pace tracking back and work effort is overlooked not to mention a few important blocks. Yes i agree he doesn't take on his man enough but that could be what he is being told to do to make sure he can stick to the rigid organisational defence.

I think even if Defour and Brady came back 'all guns blazing' within
the next three/four weeks and we started to get a few wins/points on the board
(say 20 by end of December) and the quality of football was seen to be improving
also then we'd still need to recruit in January.
Not many, maybe just one or two but without doubt we'd need to get fresh blood in.
Now, we'd need to be more than optimistic (verging on desperate?)
to think/hope the above would necessarily happen.
The best we can probably hope for is that the quality of football improves
and, as a consequence, we do manage to get enough points to keep us out of the relegation zone
but probably too close for comfort and far from thinking we're too good to go down.
So no we can't put all our eggs in the Brady/Defour basket.
But at present we haven't got much else.

I didn't see 'excellent' v Huddersfield. The player ratings generally reflect what I saw.Woodleyclaret wrote:Lennon has been excellent in the last few games and seems to have put his health issues behind him.

The lad is non-existent in matches.Woodleyclaret wrote:Lennon has been excellent in the last few games and seems to have put his health issues behind him.

Re: Can we put all our eggs in the Brady, defour basket?
Brady got loads of flak on here initially, so the usual suspects changing their tunes suddenly saw he had a worth after a few games, but neither he nor defour can be relied upon to play regularly. We'll have to play them whenever we can , too much class to be sidelined.
All teams have key performers, but we just need consistency from all the squad to make a bit more progress.

I can’t agree with comments like this. Yesterday Lennon worked really hard in defence and did what he could going forward with the few scraps of passes that came his way.nyclaret wrote:The lad is non-existent in matches.

We won't.
We don't - full stop.
Bottom 6 by Jan' window opening / closing. Sadly.
Re: Can we put all our eggs in the Brady, defour basket?
In answer to the question, No, but we will be able to have the option of reverting to the winning formation we used at the start of last season, Cork, Defour and Hendrick plus Brady and JBG with just one forward. That option against Leicester and Crystal Palace away could prove a winning system. Who knows?

We need what we have needed for a while
.a midfield enforcer, possibly a captain.

Re: Can we put all our eggs in the Brady, defour basket?
Lennon is playing like a speedboat anchored and chained to the dockside. He is an attacking winger being asked to defend all the time and that whilst on the opposite side of the pitch that he feels most comfortable on and more suits his skill set. Its pretty understandable why he is struggling at the mo.
Re: Can we put all our eggs in the Brady, defour basket?
Watching Lennon on Saturday reminded me of how Boyd used to play. He popped up here and there putting tackles in (he was joint highest for blocks and tackles on our team) but didn't really drive the game forward much.
