He should defiantly have picked Hart. Hart has played all over the world, his experience in a game like that would have been invaluable.
But he picked a keeper that had not played for a year.
Unforgivable from me too.
Maybe it's just me but I'm not gripped by trying to stay in the PL. I'm gripped by Europe nights home and away, nights to remember and tell the grand kids.
I'm gripped by cup competitions, beating Chelsea on their patch with 5000 other clarets, Spurs at home when we nearly did the impossible and Reading away in the play offs.
Dyche should have picked the strongest side he could for those Europe games and I won't have anyone tell me different. Winning breads confidence.
And if we'd have gone down this year because of Europe... so what? It would have been a lot more exciting than just another year trying to stay up. The grand kids are going to be bored of that one..

Agree with this 100%. Throwing Heaton in to a cauldron like that for his first game in a year was ridiculous, as was starting with a centre back pairing that had played together only once before. I'd have given anything to have made it to the group stage and had another 6 games in Europe, whereas frankly if we go down this year I won't be particularly bothered.Bfc34 wrote:He should defiantly have picked Hart. I'm now really confused, I'm easily influenced by what I read on here. I thought Tom was our number one keeper, fans in the foundation tell me that Hart is the problem but now he should have played in Athens. I'm pretty sure there question marks over his selection in Turkey. Odd.jrgbfc wrote:Agree with this 100%. I don't get this "I can't forgive Dyche for getting us knocked out of Europe" , Burnley finish 7th and have become a powerhouse overnight? Do they choose to ignore what happened in Athens with their antics and the referee? The same fans / posters would be going mad if we stayed in Europe and got relegated. I'm not buying into not been bothered about relegation from the PL, serial moaners will complain about anything and they do, I have one who sits behind me.
It's been quiet on here after a good performance and a win so naturally the less positive have been struggling to post. The opportunity has arisen as Milan were playing Olympicaos not that we would have been in the same group as Milan. Anyway, I'm predicting just after 4pm the less positive will have something to shout about as we are playing a top 5 multi million pound side.

I totally agree with that. Even though we wouldn't have played in the San Siro we would have still got another three games in some fantastic places.jrgbfc wrote:I'd have given anything to have made it to the group stage and had another 6 games in Europe, whereas frankly if we go down this year I won't be particularly bothered.
Memories that would last a long time.
It's far easier getting promoted out of the Championship than us finishing in 7th in the near future.

I’m not sure who posted it, but immediately after our exit, there was reference on here to a conversation had with two BFC Directors at the airport for Olympiakos, who said they didn’t want progression into the Group Stages, for fear of impacting our PL status.
Can anyone remember this? It was buried in a long thread and not particularly picked up on.

I’m surprised any of the players have recovered from this intense atmosphere in a Europa League qualifier in August that we keep hearing about.
