Padiham Road closed

Post by ClaretTony » Fri Mar 15, 2019 4:48 pm

Anyone travelling on Padiham Road, it is closed from Dugdale Road when travelling towards Burnley. I’m told there has been a fatal accident.

Has been shut since around 2:45, and I saw the helicopter land when I was picking my daughter up from school. It’s still shut now and I’ve heard there was motor bikers involved. There was a BMW 4x4 and two double deckers parked awkwardly close by so they could also have been involved

L.E.T.News says motorcyclist 'suffers serious leg injuries' in crash', no mention of a fatality.

Just after 2.35, two young lads on motorbikes ( looked like trials bikes, no numberplates ) overtook me on Padiham Road, doing over 50 as I was driving down towards Gannow Top roundabout, then shot up the road towards the William Hill shop on the corner of Claremont St/Padiham Road .... I fear it was one of them that may have been involved. According to the local Community F/B page, the air ambulance landed on the bowling green at Ightenmount Bowls Club ...

Was it a quad bike, or a 2 wheel " trials " type bike with green mudguards ?

I was on the bus and was told there had been a fatality. Thank goodness that info was wrong. The air ambulance helicopter flew over Gawthorpe during the u23 game.

Could not really tell you but his mate drove off when the crash happened and he came back a few minutes later and he was on the 2 wheeled bike.

You want to tell the police this, put some context on the accident if same people involved

Has the road opened yet? Are buses from Padiham running via a diversion?

I believe they're diverting up Lakeland Way, down Ightenhill Park Rd and rejoining at the Tim Bobbin lights.

I live on Padiham Rd just at the top of Middlesex Ave and haven't seen a bus for hours.

I was worried about relations so checked and when I saw I posted straight away, because I thought everyone else must be worrying too. Glad also, if somebody went past and saw a mangled bike and a body on the floor not moving, the story could escalate as stated.
