Barton
Re: Barton
I was embarressed by Barton's behavioir today.
No place for that on behalf of Burnley.
A years ban on Monday for his betting charge would not be a bad thing.

Barton was a disgrace today. He should never wear the Burnley shirt again.

Disgrace to the shirt. I don't give a monkeys what he's done for us in the past or what he can do in the future. I'd rather stuff like this wasn't associated with our proud club.

I wouldn't really call putting up with stick earning thousands a week it's a job a well paid 1 at that. He lost it today when we really needed a cool head.RMutt wrote:Player of the year last year. Puts up with stick every week. Class in the middle of the pitch. Give him a break.

On 12 Dec 2016 an article appeared in the LET with Dyche calling for retrospective punishments to be handed out to players for simulation and "going down too easily" claiming that this is not the way that Burnley players go about their business.
I am sure that Dyche will have plenty to say on the matter if he has not already done so.

Exactly smacks of hypocrisy if this isn't dealt with in a professional manner. If you go on record saying things & then contradict it's only natural questions will be raised.kentonclaret wrote:On 12 Dec 2016 an article appeared in the LET with Dyche calling for retrospective punishments to be handed out to players for simulation and "going down too easily" claiming that this is not the way that Burnley players go about their business.

The first real test for dyche in controlling the previously uncontrollable Barton? With significant injury concerns, the outcome of which could have a huge bearing on the remainder of your season..kentonclaret wrote:On 12 Dec 2016 an article appeared in the LET with Dyche calling for retrospective punishments to be handed out to players for simulation and "going down too easily" claiming that this is not the way that Burnley players go about their business.

It was bad but that shouldn't detract from the way we go about doing our business & to my knowledge the Lincoln manager hasn't embarked upon a media crusade stating that all this playacting simulation nasty fouls etc has to be addressed & eradicated from the modern game.clitheroeclaret2 wrote:Couldn't be at game or even see it on tv.

They wound up and fouled Barton constantly and it worked he more or less lost it.The dive was pure cheating but as he was getting nowt from the ref.... I thought he was the only one of our lot that really wanted to win though.Wont do his upcoming punishment/ban much good at all .
Though as for the screeching frothing sanctimonious close with their " a disgrace should never play for Burnley again" type guff they really need to get a grip sit down and suck a Werthers Original or something

This thread is truly pathetic.
Full of "I told you so" style comments from people whom
It seems have been waiting for a chink in Joey's armour. He admits himself, in his book, that he's still got issues.
He had a bad day, his first bad day in 18 months with us, one I'm sure he will want to forget but let's put our pitch forks away and man up.
For those saying he should never wear the shirt again, my preference would be that you never attend another game. It would be in everyone's bests interests after all.

Unbelievable that their striker got away with that yesterday.
Barton's reaction is poor later in the game. No getting away from that.

Re: Barton
I was absolutely disgusted at his antics yesterday but hopefully this was a one off. He was brilliant last season and since his return this season so am prepared to give him the benfit of the doubt.I'm sure SD will have a quiet word on him.
I don't think the roughing up was too bad just niggely and he let it wind him up. Combined with the fact he could see how poor we were playing I think it was a build up of frustration.

Re: Barton
Be interesting to see if all the people turning on Barton still have the same opinion next week when there is a good chance he will put in an MoM effort like he has tried to do every single game since he signed here. It's disgraceful you are turning on one of your own and you should be ashamed. He lost his cool today but so what don't look for a scape goat in what was a shambles throughout the first team and management.

It is Tom
Its an elbow to the side of the face.
If Barnes does that, then he's going to get sent off on a very regular basis.
Imagine if it was Barton on Rhead if that helps

He was provoked as were several Burnley players although they themselves were involved in little pushes and niggles but to fall for the oldest tricks in the books showed unprofessionalism which descended into anarchy. Barton Rhead and Flanagan should all have got their marching orders.

I made the comment because you don't like Barton, and are incapable of seeing beyond that.
I don't know why, but i've got a few minutes before I take my lad to his football match, but like IT, you'll keep banging on and on and on and on until people just give up in frustration. Thats so IT.

Re: Barton
How Rhead didn't get booked yesterday is one of life's modern mysteries.
As for Barton, I think it was bad management from Dyche telling him to screen Rhead all game as he was bound to get a few whacks. I counted 5 or 6 times Rhead went in with the elbow.
For my money, any fans who are so quick to jump on players backs (such as Barton, Arfield and Boyd), can feck off, as they have given blood sweat and tears for this club AND delivered success.

I might have been a little bit drunk when I posted that Barton shouldn't wear the Burnley shirt again. However I still think his behaviour yesterday, particularly in the incident when he went down holding his head after deliberately walking into Rhead's outstretched arm, was unacceptable.
I don't care that Rhead should have already been sent off or how good Barton has been for us, he was an embarrassment yesterday.

That's clearly deliberate - he's not using arms for leverage at all. He led wiht his arms and elbows all game - not just on Barton. Ref let him.TomBenderson wrote:Wasn't difficult to screenshot for anyone interested rather than just being partisan.
I understand "Rhead convicted for elbowing Barton" is on the front page of the BBC if it helps.
I was waiting for a bit of magic from Rhead given the Lincoln fans were saying "you'll all be thinking he's got a pretty good touch for a big man" but all I saw was a big clogger - he'd have been right at home in Revie's side.
I'm cutting Joey some slack - they hammered at him all game and the ref gave him zero protection seeing as it was a fairytale game

I agree I thought the big lump should have been carded several times in the first half.
I also thought the challange on Gudmonson should have been a red, not seen it again yet but that was my thought live.
Arfield challange on the goal keeper looked like it deserved a yellow.
Flannagan's push was a red card offence.
Joey's hand across the face got a desreved yellow.
All in all I thought the ref had a stinker.
I will watch the whole game again whenits available which may change my view.

Also Joey didn't walk into his arm, just as he was going in front of him Rhead points his arm out, so there was contact. It was the over the top reaction afterwards that was poor from Barton. Wasn't a dive though. A dive means no contact

Re: Barton
There was contact, unintentional. It may well have hurt too. Sometimes you bang your head and it hurts like hell, other times hardly at all. I did think it was over the top so cannot defend that but he had taken several to the head in the game and not reacted.

Wish the rest of the side had showed his passion
So he stands on someone's toe and puts a palm in someone's face....wow
Seen worse at under 12 level.
Anytime a Lincoln player went near him they were falling over like sacks of sh1t
Rather have what Joey did than blatant cheating.
Game is gradually being reduced to a non contact, non verbal, jolly hockey sticks pastime.
stop slagging of one of our own.

Constructive criticism yes,Abuse no,I don't wear Claret tinted specs. But I support the players in good and BAD times.
