They draw names and clubs out of a bag like in an FA Cup draw.

He was on 100k a week and the reason he has left is they wouldn't offer him 50% more. Another for the China gravy train or a lucrative move to one of the big Turkish clubs

Most of the rumours so far seem to be on players leaving Burnley.
Keane and Gray being the most prominent.

Jota would be a great signing, and we can sign that Sergi Canos whilst we're there. Personally I'd like to see a Danny type striker, a centre back, a winger, a keeper if Heaton leaves, and a left back, as Ward is 32 now. As long as we recruit well though, I couldn't care less who we signed.

Would be happy with that. I thought when I watched the Huddersfileld / Wednesday match he was Wednesdays best player and an SD type of player.

Not for me.
Weak and small and already been deemed not good enough at this level previously. Twenty eight in December so is hardly a 'prospect' we can realistically believe we can improve.
We need some athleticism and ability to break up play in that position with Barton and Marney not around. There is no way whatsoever you could play a midfield two in this league with one of them being Bannan, and he is nowhere near good enough to change your system for if Defour isn't.

Doesn't Bannan operate most frequently in a wide midfield role and/or behind the striker for Wednesday?
Reckon he'd be a good signing.

Barry Bannan - really ?
I know it's not going to be possible to buy proven Premier League players all the time and we will need to take a gamble on players who we believe can make the step up.
However I would rather not buy players like Bannan who have already proven they are not good enough in the Premier League.

Bannan is nowhere near the standard we should be looking at however I find the, 'he's already proven not to be good enough at this level' argument difficult to buy into with many of our regulars also falling into that category

For example ?
I don't mean the likes of Scotty Arfield as they never played in the Premier League and we were picking these players up based on something Dyche saw which made him believe he could play at a level higher than Huddersfield reserves and we could pick him up cheap

Bannan is bascially a lesser Westwood. We need a good partner for Hendrick next season as I'm not sure Westwood is the answer.

Bannan reminds me of Arfield, tidy player who can play in the middle but doesn't have the presence to play in a two and therefore often used wide. I can't see he's any improvement on someone who should be a squad player for us next season, so I'm hoping this one is off the mark.

I think you will find it is significantly less than that - that figure is just guaranteed income over the next 4 seasons should we get relegated next May.
I consider money in the bank to be cash in hand after outgoings and should we get relegated and not come back up within 3 seasons then I think we will have little or nothing left in the bank.

Surely a couple of bargains to bolster the squad and help cover players that leave, enables more to be spent on the incoming '1st teamers'.

Good player and a top end championship player which is our market in the main! Yet people slag the thought of it off! Yet If you give fans a foreign name who has lit up the Belgium league they would jump all over it! Think people forget that some of these foreign leagues are worse than our championship!

Not sure what the problem is with us being linked with Barry Bannan. I think most of us expect us to be interested in a left footed midfielder who can either operate on the right side this summer (particularly if Boyd leaves) to provide balance opposite the width Brady will presumably offer us wide on the left, or alternatively operate inside if we adopt a central midfield 3.
Bannan probably isn't top of this list - Cairney and Clucas probably are - but Bannan has been one of the best players in the Championship over the last couple of seasons matching the description set out above and so as potentially 3rd or 4th on the hit list, he sounds like a pretty sensible option to me. His pedigree has never been in question - he's a good passer of the ball, has intelligent movement and is pretty mobile - but he's never quite fulfilled his potential. That seems to me to describe the sort of player who we've done very well with over recent years.

Nowt wrong with Bannan. Top-end Championship player and a better passer than Hendrick or Westwood. If we can get him for £6 or £7 million I'd snap him up. I'd rather we went all-out for Clucas though.

He has twenty odd caps for Scotland whereas Boyd and Arfield have one between them so he's clearly not the same standard.

I would feel fairly underwhelmed with Bannan. He looks decent as many have said but certainly hoped that we would do better this window than signing him.
I do not expect us or want us to break the bank but this would fail to impress for me.
Pretty much the same thoughts about Niasse also. Scored goals in Senegal and then a few in Russia and Turkey, been arrested in the UK. Not sure he fits what SD usually goes for.

Gray to Everton,
Harry Maguire
Ben Gibson
Jay Rodriguez all incoming is what Iv heard so far.
As much as i like Gray id be happy for Jay Rod in place of him as he does a lot more.
