As a forward player I would view Walters as possibly on par with Ashley Barnes, but not as good as Vokes and no where near as good as Gray.

But if you want to rank players on abilities then above Walters would be behind

Heaton, Mee, Ward, JBG, Brady, Defour, Hendrick, Vokes, Gray.

Which would possibly make him a useful addition, just not at the expense of Vokes,Gray,JBG,Brady,Hendrick or Defour.

I suppose the point here is that technical ability is only part of the equation. You're missing that bit.

I honestly see this signing as a masterstroke. He is 100% a " Dyche " player. He would run through brick walls for his team. I would not class it as a stop gap but more of a short term building block , added to our evolution. Our aim is to become an established Premier League team and to do that we need at least some players with that experience in and around the club. I see see this as much of a off the field signing as it is on the field. Just having the guy around the training ground day in , day out can only be to the clubs advantage.

This is consolidation.

1. You don't watch the game - well live or often.
2. Consolidating as an established PL team is progress.

By only playing youngsters and novices instead of experienced players we will definately go down. For a while you had started to post some reasonable comments but you are going backwards again.

Walters should be a good signing. If Gray goes we will hopefully replace him with a similar type of player, but at the moment we have until Walters signed, only 3 forwards competing for the 1st team

Walters is an ok signing, it's not good as ultimately our problem with our lack of pace and creativity still remains. We've replaced Boyd who was fit as a fiddle with a 33 year old who some Stoke fans think that is legs have gone.

The majority of Stoke fans comments I have read have been extremely positive and none have suggested his legs have gone. The majority of Stoke fans comments I have read are devastated he has gone and think he will be an excellent signing for us but hey let's write him off before he has kicked a ball.

Devastated because he's been there 7 years and he's a hero to them. Most would say it's the right thing o do o let him go.

Think the comments on that site are a testament to what a good player we have picked up.

A Tory trier, well that's a new one for the books. He truly is an SD player.

Massive signing, really important.
This is a combative and talented footballer who plays the game with passion.
He will be influential and effective throughout the coming season make no mistake.
I am ecstatic about this one. Excellent choice to go for him.

Jon Walters medical video

Post by mill hill claret » Sun Jul 09, 2017 2:50 pm

Got me thinking .....
It took all morning to do .what happens on transfer deadline day when clubs target a player at the last minute when do they take their medical..surely there isn't enough time to do it if it's getting late ...do they have the medical in the following days ??

Or have they had the medical days earlier and just sign on deadline day for the benefit of sky tv and Jim white :D

So in these medicals we don't just knock them on the knee with a little hammer and ask them if they smoke then.

That was when Doc Iven did them :D

As the doctor said, all those boxes have to be ticked before we go ahead with the transfer.

I did like the Dr calling it a wee test and not a urine test.

A proper Burnley doctor. 8-)
