I don't understand what it is that you actually want. You complain when youngsters don't get game time at Burnley. Then you complain when we don't sign a youngster as our 3rd choice keeper. You can't have it both ways.ablueclaret wrote:Because if he's that unimportant sign a youngster with promise not an old hack.

I do. He just wants to moan, complain, criticise, be noticed and put a negative slant on every aspect of the club!!IndigoLake wrote:I don't understand what it is that you actually want. .

Let's not pretend that isn't a pretty poor signing from the club. Apart from Jack Cork, this has been a pretty underwhelming transfer window.

I don't get why its been an underwhelming transfer window.
Re: Adam legzdins
Just for clarity, are you saying that because you've seen him several times and he's been consistently poor? Or are you saying it because you've seen his appearance record and found out that his record isn't much better than Heaton's was when we sdigned him?Right_winger wrote:... an absolute disaster of a goalkeeper who's barely managed to muster a career in the lower leagues. ...
If the latter, I'd stop worrying. Even you would presumably agree that Heaton turned out all right.

Probably because some people were expecting a minimum amount of money to be spent.Lancasterclaret wrote:I don't get why its been an underwhelming transfer window.
They're usually the ones who struggle to understand finances though and if the club was suddenly skint they'd question where the money was spent.

Re: Adam legzdins
Hi Lancs, I think its been an impressive transfer window: Jack Cork, new starter (my expectation); Charles Taylor, strengthening the squad and building for the future; Jon Walters and Phil Bardsley both adding much needed Premier League experience, Adam Legzdins back-up in the event of Tom Heaton injury.Lancasterclaret wrote:I don't get why its been an underwhelming transfer window.
Then we've got all the guys who came in last season, both August and Jan, all building their pre-season fitness, all building on last season's "first season in the Premier League (in most cases) - and, first among all of these guys, Steven Defour - who many of us expected to move on, appearing to strengthen his place in the team, and - with Jack Cork - a team that appears to have the options to be built around Defour and get the best from his "class."
And, a good fee for Michael Keane - we always knew he was leaving, but important that we didn't lose out on the fee.
Andre Gray is the only "loose end" in my view. Beyond that there will always be positions we'd all like to strengthen, but even if our transfer business is now complete, we are a stronger team than 12 months ago - and well set for our 2nd season in the Premier League.
I'm ready for Saturday 3 pm.

Heaton had a much better appearance record than Legzdins when we signed him, having played at a higher level as well as representing England at virtually every level apart from senior when we signed him. He was also much younger.dsr wrote:Just for clarity, are you saying that because you've seen him several times and he's been consistently poor? the Legzdins signing is just a body for the sake of it. Brings absolutely nothing to the table whatsoever. Would even be a poor signing for a bottom half championship club.
Who would you expect to play in the event of a Heaton injury? Pope or Legzdins?

Re: Adam legzdins
Putting us in a purely hypothetical situation. Let's say Heaton gets injured. In your scenario we are left with Pope, who by what I have seen is prone to the odd error and is still young. Up against some of the world's best players. His confidence could be quickly shot. If we have to rely on an even younger keeper with even less confidence to replace him, we're in a whole heap of trouble. It's not a risk I'd want our mangement team to take and thankfully they realise that we need experienced heads. Mitchell needs experience at a lower level to get his confidence and game up to speed.Walton wrote:I'm struggling to see the sense in filling up 3 out of just 25 squad slots with 3 keepers.
