Owen Coyle says he is "as ambitious now as the first day I started" in management after being named Ross County manager.
The 51-year-old, who has signed a two-year deal to succeed Jim McIntyre, said his relationship with chairman Roy MacGregor was an important factor.
"It was important for me that I had that relationship with the owner/chairman," he told BBC Scotland.
"When I've had that relationship at clubs, we've been really successful."
One must assume he means St Johnstone and Burnley chairmen and they are the only two clubs where he wasn't fired.

On the other hand, he did get some of them right such as Fletcher, Cole, Alexander,...
2. I've never forgiven him for the utter BS and have refused to visit my aunt in Scotland since he deserted us for Noblot. His conduct in their subsequent home game against us was sad to say the least
Then again, I've never forgotten the great promotion and the Wembley final, the great cup run, the first victory against Man Utd,..
One thing I am sure of though: we were already in a serious downward spiral when he deserted us, and would have ended up in the Championship anyway that season in case he had stayed.
He made his own bed and should lay (or should I say 'lie') on it.
Our luck is that in the end we did manage to give our current manager a shot at the job
I bet the Man Utd fans hate Fergie then because he did sign some dross. There isn't a manager in football who doesn't make dire signings.

I thought he (coyle) was brilliant at the time he was manager. He managed to get the most out of some average players and had us playing like Barcelona. Then other teams sussed him out and the results didn't look just as good. I was gutted when he jumped ship for Bolton and in the way he did it. However on reflection had he stayed I now believe we would be in a worse position than we currently are. Only the way he left and for the team he left for made me bitter. He was not the messiah just a very naughty boy.

Just a little note to say that Alexander arrived before Coyle.
Now a big note to say that
"the promotion" was more a result of Alexander's exemplary leadership on the field rather than Coyle's off the field romantics.

Don't recall a single opinion being expressed to suggest we were lucky during that unbelievable promotion season under Coyle. We were together, fans included, and that was key to what we were able to achieve. To suggest it was nothing more than lucky now is just silly really. We played 62 games that season - how could such success over that period be attributed to random chance? Some folk really need to give their head a wobble. Coyle was awesome for us and karma bit him on the a55 for moving on too soon - I've enjoyed every bit of his story but most of all the part where he gave BFC a platform for the success we've enjoyed since.

Can't be. Would the chant of "Judas Judas Judas" go up if he dared show his face at the Macron, DW, or Deadwood??

I think you've nailed it there Buxton. It was the feeling of being "duped" that rankles most. Betrayal from someone who spouted ******** about loyalty.
Bolton certainly showed him loyalty, fitting for a legend, just before they showed him the door
The only good that I'll remember him for was the way he shafted Wovers more than he shafted us !

He did a grand job at Deadwood.
Like he was trying to make amends for deviousness..
I'll contgratulate him on that.
He's still a toe-rag though.

Three pages, and still people can't get their head around a simple concept.
It is possible to have been a good manager and a total **** for us.
Once you've got that sorted, then you stop saying things that make you look daft on here.

The Bolton cup fixture played at the turf after he had left for them. That was the most electric i have seen Turf Moor. It was a volatile cauldron of hatred , would be great to see some of that energy used week in week out at TM. With less C words and cut throat gesturing. It was as intense as Galatasary for the evening , it certainly won us the game.

Evidently its just not about accepting him as being a good manager and a **** that stops you making things up on here.

So that's
Cotterill
Luck
Alexander's leadership skills
All given as the reason for that fantastic season rather than the actual manager.
Anything else? Harold from The Bob Lord wearing his lucky underpants all season perhaps?
