Is he broadly speaking supportive of egalitarianism and a social system that seeks to support its weaker members, and does he actively encourage a democratic political system in which his opponents have a realistic chance of overturning his rule? If not then he doesn't sound very left wing. Is he in fact the opposite of what I have just said? So he could be right wing. The National SOCIALIST party were in fact just about the most right wing ruling party in the last 100 years in Western Europe - the word socialist didn't make them left wing any more than the word communist makes Putin right wing. I'm not sure what all this proves mind you.
