Re: Liverpool v Spurs
Similar to the Barnes disallowed goal against Watford, the linesman ignored the fact that 2 defenders touched it before it got to him.
By co-incidence this same lino today gave a soft penalty to Palace as well as several wrong offsides.

I'm not talking about the offisde (******** to the rules, he's clearly offside and forces Lovren or whoever into an action they wouldn't have made otherwise) I'm talking about the blatant dive by Kane. Disgraceful, the games shot to **** and I'm in total agreement with others - if Burnley didn't exist I wouldn't watch it anymore. The PL is now on par with Italy for cheating, even La Liga is better than the PL these daysLowbankclaret wrote:Sorry VEgas,
Because the Liverpool player played the ball he was onside. I thought he was offside till Gallerger cleared it up
So not specsavers, it’s the rules

Re: Liverpool v Spurs
I think I'm with the majority here. The rules are wrong, if not. I've played quite a bit.
As a defender it appears I have to be aware of not only the forwards, who are clearly interfering with play, but also the fact that the liner may just occasionally get a decision correct and therefore leave the ball? Is that what we're saying?
Farcical rules. The liner should put up his flag like he used to. Miss-kick or not, he's offside in that scenario. He's gaining an advantage by standing offside.

Re: Liverpool v Spurs
That first penalty got on my wick, despite the entertainment.
Yes, probably an inspired decision within the rules. But the rules are crazy.
The first ball was passed to the other Spurs guy, so I get the bit about phase 2 and Lovren starting a new phase by touching it. But Kane’s position affected Lovren’s decision, how can he know if Kane would have been offside, first, the lino’s Flag stays down and second, he doesn’t have the correct view. He had to try to clear it, and Kane affected him by standing behind him.
I’m yet to see a convincing argument for how that rule benefits football.

Bore off, Alli dived it certainly didn't spoil the entertainment though.IanMcL wrote:"Premier League at it's best" says Sky summariser.
I think not. Just an advert for cheating.

Nailed on penalty, the keeper came flying out, got nowhere near the ball and obstructed Kane's path to the ball.Vegas Claret wrote:The most blatant dive you will ever see, conned the ref. CHEAT

I suppose that's where different generations' idea of football entertainment differs.KRBFC wrote:Bore off, Alli dived it certainly didn't spoil the entertainment though.
I didn't watch the game as I knew I wouldn't enjoy it. I listened to the last half hour on 5 Live. Frankly the over-hyping and melodrama of it all leaves me cold.

I think there is slight contact either way there doesn't have to be, the keeper running out at that speed effectively stops Kane from getting to the ball without hurdling over him.Vegas Claret wrote:There's no ******* contact you prick

I don't know how old you are, but I'll guess you are under 40. The game I loved has long gone, I played for many years.
Now, if I want to watch amateur (although highly paid) dramatics, I'd rather go somewhere with central heating and comfortable seating arrangements.
As I've said many times, my only interest now is in the long-term survival of Burnley Football Club...
not the EPL.

you can probably understand how i miss the likes of Elder, Lochhead and Irvine and particularly Blacklaw from my best times of watching the Clarets.
Different era, and almost a different game.

Pretty much but I think you either enjoy modern day football or stop watching to save the moaning. I used to enjoy peanut butter, now I dislike it, so I don't eat it because if I did, i'd moan about how sh!t it tastes.boatshed bill wrote:Your generation?

It isn't offside by the rules, but Kane is interfering with play alli is playing the ball to him how can he not be interfering with play.Diesel wrote:How do you know what Lovren 'knew'.
Offside, for me.
It's the rules that need changing.

Re: Liverpool v Spurs
Agreed, similar to one Yesterday where Kompany headed out the ball for a corner when Barnes was behind him in an offside position. Makes no sense, the player is clearly interfering with play when the ball is played towards him.Shore claret wrote:It isn't offside by the rules, but Kane is interfering with play alli is playing the ball to him how can he not be interfering with play.

Does anyone think Kane bottled the first pen as in his head he felt he may have took a dive and if he was to benefit from it he would face further action. Just a very un kane like penalty

Apparently John Moss said to Klopp he made a mistake on the first penalty.

Re: Liverpool v Spurs
I've watched England for years, qualifiers, friendlies the lot, but if Dele Alli is playing I refuse to watch them, he's embarrassing. A young lad with talent but he's a cheat of the highest order. I just don't get how these players operate. No dignity, no morals. No respect for people like this. I was losing interest with England anyway over the last few years having watched players like Adams, Pearce, Gascoigne, Shearer, Beckham etc give all for their national team. Now I despair when blatant cheats like Alli get in the team. I remember Owen was a bit quick to go down but this guy is a disgrace.

I am losing patience with football especially prem league the amount of diving / cheating it’s embarassi forget VAR and all that shite just get the incidents reviewed later any diving cheating or elbowing like the Tarks incident give the retrospective yellow / red cards or match bans. If they do this give it half a season we would see a lot less. Football as it is is a big turn off for me

Unfortunately I think we now have to accept that if a keeper commits like that then the player is going to leave a foot in or move his foot towards the player/keeper and a pen is going to be given.
I don’t like it but have accepted that’s how it’s going to be from now on.

Some would say it’s being clever. I think he could have made it look much more of a pen had he not not jumped out of the way.Vegas Claret wrote:If we have to accept cheating then I'll not bother watching anymore
He could have also stayed on his feet but then would never get a pen, like we don’t.
I am not defending it or supporting it, just have accepted that’s the way it’s going.
Alli’s Fall over/ dive was even worse to me. Was going down before Lovren even got there.

See a Liverpool fan has hacked Alli's icloud account and posted a video on twitter. Doesnt show Alli in the best light and can see fans doing the nipple pose up and down the country to wind him up
