Interestingly, we were linked with Rondon on Sunday on some website or other.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Would definitely take Rondon and would imagine he would be a real crowd favourite if we did get him.

Re: Jay rodriguez
Rondon was, for me, their best player.

Would be happy with that. Seems to have an excellent attitude and work ethic.ClaretTony wrote:Interestingly, we were linked with Rondon on Sunday on some website or other.
Re: Jay rodriguez
Wouldn’t you say Rondon is too much in the mauld of Wood/Barnes? I would much prefer a different style of forward to compliment the ones we already have.

Re: Jay rodriguez
From my vieiwings of Rondon I would say he is more of a direct Barnes. Runs with the ball more. Perhaps a bit more like a younger walters.RVclaret wrote:Wouldn’t you say Rondon is too much in the mauld of Wood/Barnes? I agree we need sonething different as well. But always good to have similar options too for injuries and suspensions.
Wood
Barnes
Vokes
Rondon
I think we need an upgrade on Wells in that mix. Now we play 442 5 strikers would be just about enough.
Would probably be too much of the same.

Re: Jay rodriguez
Without doubt the main stumbling block to re~signing Rodrigues would be wages. Also he is on a four year deal until 2021.
On R5 last night the local journo covering Albion for the local paper said that Sturridge was on £120k and Krychowiak was on £100k and that they had signed players in summer 2017 on circa £80/90k, so draw your own conclusions. This was put forward as the answer to the question, where has all the money gone.
He also said that the WBA players are on a 50% pay cut when they drop so it could possibly bring him with in range. However we would probably be outbid by other desperate clubs potty enough to match close to what he is supposedly on at the minute.

I'd heard that hardly any of their players had relegation clauses in their contracts, I suppose he would know better being a local journalist.ClaretLoup wrote:Without doubt the main stumbling block to re~signing Rodrigues would be wages. Also he is on a four year deal until 2021.

Re: Jay rodriguez
Some people haven't yet cotton on to our plan regarding forwards. It's to sell players when they are past their best and never bring them back.
Let's be honest - this plan is doing bloody well.

10 goals from Jay in West Brom's position is very good.Bordeauxclaret wrote:10 goals for a seriously **** side and still a number of games to go.

Yep and I think he’d be a very good fit for us next. Even without the obvious link up.taio wrote:10 goals from Jay in West Brom's position is very good.

I wouldn't say that we are a 4-4-2 side. We’ve reverted to it but it was injuries that dictated that change, this season.cricketfieldclarets wrote:From my vieiwings of Rondon I would say he is more of a direct Barnes. Runs with the ball more. Perhaps a bit more like a younger walters.

I’d still prefer us to play a 4-5-1 although that’s not to say 4-4-2 doesn’t and hasn’t worked for us. I just think we looked at our best this season with 5 in midfield.
Re: Jay rodriguez
He is sharp in the box.
