When we bought Lennon that was to improve the first team.
When we bought Brady and Westwood - only one of them was to improve the first team. Westwood was bought as a squad player...and hardly kicked a ball for a good while after.
These windows are being looked at now with hindsight - even now the Brady one isn’t looking too great is it ?
Most people thought last summers transfer window was poor at the time - but even then we bought the championships top scorer on £50k a week and for £11m. That really isn’t that different to buying Chris Wood the summer before is it ?
The Brady and Westwood point was really to counter your point about Dyche and Jan TWs.
Whilst his wages were’t cheap, the fee and length of his contract were cautious in nature.
The judgement on transfer windows isn’t in hindsight at all. Your point about last summers being criticised at the time undermines your point, a little.
As for buying Vydra; what was the point of that. Dyche has barely used him, been when we’re crying out for something different to less than mobile big lads upfront. No, he prefers the past-it Crouch to last season’s Championship top scorer. He’s and his stubbornness are his own worst enemy at times.

Dyche needs to decide whether Vydra is good enough or he isn’t. Giving him 2 minutes is a waste of everybody’s time. Hoofball wasnt working on Saturday so he brings on Crouch. Most of the stadium could see that was not the right tactic. Vydra would potentially have offered something different. If he isn’t good enough then what is he doing on the bench.

I don't think its stubbornness to be fair. He's a big believer in players playing themselves back into form, but he's been torpedoed this year by so many players being well of the pace for far too long.
But he certainly should have used Vydra more in the last four games, as he's created something in each of the little cameos he's had.

But Dyche has said that on January transfer windows - point being that the one you quoted was the exception to the rule.
I know that most people including me thought the transfer window last summer was disappointing. I’m not countering my own argument - i’m saying that buying the championships leading scorer is what we also did the season before. I thought Wood was a poor signing at the time - I still do do a large degree.
I did think Gibson was a good signing though.
Completely agree with your comments on Crouch and Dyche’s stubbornness / use of subs etc. It’s perplexing and I also agree that I do not understand or agree with the the board policy on transfers these last couple of windows. We are crying out for a big change on our board.

So he was. Backs up my point even more in that case.

team is poor at the moment, certainly not Crouches fault, so many were previously slaughtering Vydra a while back and now saying SD should have brought him on. You could see the road disaster developing Saturday as an inevitable crash. Very good playing all round LC's defense but no penetration at all, which is fairly typical for the team, so many poor balls being put in from the wings.
Brady definitely guilty for the late goal in my opinion and he did less than Crouch did, he is very poor at the moment.
