Imploding Turtle
Re: Imploding Turtle
I not often wonder where Imploding Turtle got its name, it sounds like one of Mr Chinnery's unfortunate patients...

Re: Imploding Turtle
So long as the ironing board fella doesn't come back, Imploding Turtle is more than welcome, for me.

FAO Imploding Turtle... rather than start another thread.
PC query: I currently have an AMD Phenom(tm) II x 2 550 processor... 3.1 GHz plus 4gb RAM.
The motherboard can take up to 8Gb RAM.
Do you think doubling the RAM will make a significant difference? Also, the CPU keeps overheating and shutting itself off... so bought some 'air in a can' to clear it all out - can this also make a big difference to speed?

As long as you have a 64-bit operating system 8gb will always help performance over 4. You probably have a 64-bit OS bit just double check anyway through control panel.FactualFrank wrote:FAO Imploding Turtle... rather than start another thread.

Air in a can won't do much help if the heatsink and fan are relatively clean and spinning. Use it anyway to clean it out but the most likely problem is an improper contact between the heatsink and the cpu heat spreader. This will either be because the heating has been dislodged, or there is too little/too much thermal paste on the cpu spreader.
Remove the heatsink, clean off and reapply the paste and reseat the heatsink and it should be fine.
Edit: Also, do it yourself. It's really easy to strip and rebuild a system. Watch a youtube video or something rather than spend 30, 40 or 50 quid on getting a "professional" to do it. It's basically lego.

He is great at research.
Perhaps there is some use for him somewhere

The thing is, he does the political stuff and it usually rattles off a few hundred replies with the usual suspects.
It does get a bit tasty but in a world of Donald Trump and Brexit how could it not get heated?

Yes you did. You were insinuating what people like Tiao come right out and say in an attempt to discredit my opinions or any facts I share. Being wrong doesn't even stop you.
