remind me ?
Spurs beating Man City in the first leg and losing the second leg 3-4 but going through on away goals - City having a very late goal disallowed by VAR.

Liverpool beating Barcelona 4-0 having been 3-0 down after the first leg.

Spurs winning with a 96th minute goal at Ajax to win the game 3-2 having been 1-0 down after the first leg.

All ties which were made more exciting due to the away goal element and the second chance for a team to turn around a tie. I’m sure there were others but those are off the top of my head.

I’m not sure that’s the case for me to be honest. I remember cheering on Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool in Champions League finals in the not too distant past and those teams had plenty of non-British players. My dislike of these clubs has come about since we’ve been competing with them every season.
I think the Man U team that won the European Cup in 1968 was all British but I got a right telling off from my grandma for wanting Benfica to win.

Of course the most famous example of a home grown team conquering Europe was the 'Lisbon Lions' the year before, all 11 starters for Celtic were born within a 30 mile radius of Glasgow, somehow I doubt we'll ever see anything similar ever again, but for better or worse the game has dramatically changed from that era. The only modern example that comes anywhere near would be the Ajax team cruelly denied a place in the final last season, I think most of their squad came through the development system, but sadly for them it was always going to be a short-lived journey, and the vast majority of that squad has now broken up.

I was hoping Ajax would win it last year, still don't know how they threw it away at home to Spurs.

From memory they sat back and tried to protect their lead, and that approach didn't suit their usual attacking style, sitting on any lead in football is dangerous, and once Spurs gained the upper hand they were the only team trying to win it.

I think you might be believing the hype. The best games are in the PL, the best players aren’t.
I’d say we have a larger % of the worlds best in each position than any other league in europe.
