Aww come on BFC, you know this board loves a good old meltdown.

And he spoke about coming back last week in an interview
Aye, but moving forward behind the scenes apparently.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 8:51 pmAnd he spoke about coming back last week in an interview
Coaching role or playing ?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 8:51 pmAnd he spoke about coming back last week in an interview
That’s good and bad news. I think adding him onto the books on a minimal wage whilst getting his badges could be a good move even if he can pop up to lift the crowd for the last 10/15 mins if needed.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 8:55 pmOnly about his badges though - not even considered fit enough to play Belgian football now unfortunately
Given he’s suffered more injuries since he left, and given how far away he was the last time he played, I would hope not.
Fair points, surely it’d be better to have him on the bench though instead of a 17 year old who has no chance of coming on.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 9:00 pmGiven he’s suffered more injuries since he left, and given how far away he was the last time he played, I would hope not.
He’s not been fit now in over two years. I’d love to see the Defour back who played August 2017 to January 2018 but that’s not going to happen. Don’t think he’s ever been a player either to influence a game as a sub.
If we’re relying on Defour from a playing perspective, then our whole scouting network should be sent to the job centre.
Bidding war incoming, sadly.ashtonlongsider wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 9:05 pmDon't normally like commenting on transfer activity. However if the story comes via John Percy it's usually got 'legs'. It wouldn't surprise me if Tarks went but I'd be very surprised if it's to East London.
This transfer window is becoming a joke.agreenwood wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 9:14 pmTwo things.
Losing key players before we’ve even plugged any of the serious gaps in the squad would be horrendous.
Tarkowski is the only senior centre half we have who looks likely to be fit for the early games of the season.
In short, losing him would be a disaster.
Was apparently Pope who told some of his “staff” that he’s moving. Not sure how true it is though or if he is moving to a different house in same area.
I just guess a lot mate apparentlySteve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:03 pmYou have a lot of inside info! Nick Pope and his bloody ‘staff’!
Already posted in this thread:jurek wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:40 pmApparently West HAm have tabled a bid of 20m + add ons for Tarks.
I think we've turned it down but they may come back with another offer?

As others have said we can't afford to lose .
Even if the offer was up to 40m.

Whoever wrote that report missed all the stuff put into the public domain by Luton. They were the club that sold Gray to Brentford. Luton reported both their cut of the transfer fee that Brentford received when Gray moved to Burnley and their share of the transfer fee received by Burnley when Gray moved to Watford. So, the "tremendous value" and "huge profit" was I think 25% lower than claimed.Wembley09 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 8:22 pmWas reading an article just last month about Gray, and how we got a great deal selling him to Watford.
Burnley got tremendous value from Andre Gray and made a huge profit on selling him
Burnley signed Gray for what was then a club record £9m from Brentford back in 2015 (as per BBC), a move which worked wonders for him and the Clarets. They more than doubled their money on him with the sale to Watford, for whom he has scored just 16 times in 94 appearances – less than half of his 33-goal tally at Turf Moor inside 78 games at the Lancashire club.

It goes back to the repeated misunderstanding of what Garlick said in April, which is still widely shared by Burnley fans never mind anyone else. People think we are broke, we are most definitely not broke.
some of us are still haunted by Joe Neenan and Mark Kendall, we need timeWoodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 3:58 amBPF mom for Northern Ireland last night v Romania, with string of superb saves
Clearly a keeper on the up.
I dont understand while some feel because hes our player he cant be very good.
With BPF looking decent, Norris just signed and Jensen in reserve, if we are going to sell one of the Crown Jewels it would make far more sense for it to be Pope than Tarkowski.
Yet another MOM performance last night. You'd do well to remember Heaton and Pope both joined us from clubs relegated from the Championship and both went on to play for England.
Not quite sure of the backstory to it but Mark Noble has just publicly criticised the club for selling a young player to West Brom. As you say they are a club in turmoilBenWickes wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 5:44 amEven if West Ham met the release clause. Tarkowski would be mad to go to West Ham. Car crash of a club on and off the pitch. He'd not be enhancing his chances of an England call up in a team who regularly bobs along towards the bottom end of the table and just don't seem capable of building a team capable of any consistency. They've long been a group of individuals on the field as opposed to a 'team' with no real identity, cohesion or solid plan. He'll have been poorly advised or just plain blinkered if he chose to go there. More chance of a Europa League spot with us than them.
And more than that, it wouldn’t surprise me if this low ball Tarky bid was just to distract from them selling one of their upcoming stars. A “show of ambition” to demonstrate they are trying to bring players in when realistically there’s no way that it’ll be accepted.JohnDearyMe wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:21 amNot quite sure of the backstory to it but Mark Noble has just publicly criticised the club for selling a young player to West Brom. I think the £50m release was only for any north west clubs making an offer
Exactly. And if we value outgoing players using the same formula as for our targets, then that figure would be damn close to getting accepted.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 12:44 amit's the exact same thing that we do when bidding for players.
Because despite the fact we were better than them last season, they are by far a bigger club with a better chance of long term PL success than us.
