Having seen the goals I can't see us trying to sign any of their defenders.

Great cross from Gudmundsson for the second.

Re: Maritimo at Gawthorpe
We need to get him back first, but think it'll depend on the opposition - between him and Vydra.

Ask Sean. It's impossible for us to know as we don't know what he's doing in training. He might be first choice for all we know.

Phil Bird and his mate suggesting again at the end that Ben Mee is likely to be first back from Injury. That surprised me a little as I thought Barny was now back in full training? Fully expect Barny to be on the bench against Sheff U.

As daft as it sounds I hope that’s the case as I fully expect Barnes to come back in at some point and hit another hot streak and prove any doubters wrong, he’s just that sort of character.

Re: Maritimo at Gawthorpe
I think all 4 of them are more than capable of starting, as we have such a great choice of 4. So even fourth choice could be first choice a few games later.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 4:55 pmAs daft as it sounds I hope that’s the case as I fully expect Barnes to come back in at some point and hit another hot streak and prove any doubters wrong, he’s just that sort of character.
Re: Maritimo at Gawthorpe
Yes, agree with that. Strikers is the one position where we are blessed with an excellent range of options.

Any post match interview from Dyche?
Re: Maritimo at Gawthorpe
Yes. He said 'The club weren't getting information right so I logged on to Up The Clarets to see where we were playing. I've been at Barnfield calling all the players mobiles all afternoon asking where they were! What was the score?'

Re: Maritimo at Gawthorpe
I thought Jay just got better & better last season the more he played. More than deserves to be starting. But what a boost a fit Barnes will be for us.

Unless we sell that's the starting line-up for sure.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 7:26 pmI'd be happy with that lineup, providing we have a bit more depth on the bench with 2-3 new players trying to get their place in the team.
The subs don't look too bad:
Peacock-Farrell, Lowton, Pieters, Vydra,Brady, Benson, Dunne,

That XI looks solid enough, the worry is injuries and departures, as the bench is down to the bare bones.

Well aye, I mean before the window closes. We're light in central midfield as well if anything were to happen to Westwood/Brownhill.

We won 3-0 you miserable beggar, it can't have been that dull, of course the quality of the opposition has to be factored in, but it's sounds like a good workout for the lads, and crucially they've all come through injury free.
Dwight, Wood & Vydra netting is welcome, let's hope they continue in this vein.
Tarks playing is surely significant, at the very least it must mean there's no move imminent, we'd be

Not a football related comment but good grief look at the thickness of his neck! I think he could nut someone harder than I could kick 'em and the bloke is almost 50.
Sorry, just had to say that. As you were...

Re: Maritimo at Gawthorpe
No I was at work, it's a pre-season friendly, they're rarely exciting, it just shows how poor the Portuguese league is outwith the big boys, but most people probably knew this beforehand, we needed a bounce game prior to the kick-off, and we didn't have any other options as everybody else is in action this weekend, I'd rather they got minutes under their belts than not, we're already playing catch-up with the rest of the league, as the Mancs have cried off playing on the 1st weekend, so it was a decent fitness exercise if nothing else.

Re: Maritimo at Gawthorpe
Maritimo streamed the game live I've just been told, while we only get Comms cam.
Re: Maritimo at Gawthorpe
Not sure why. Darren Bentley was explaining the intricacies of streaming a game on comms cam yesterday in regards to the League Cup game. He said getting six camera angles and the streaming side of it was relatively inexpensive these days. It was more down to getting the highlights to the Broadcaster for live goal updates, commercial rights etc that they had to work on. Maybe it is something to do with sponsorship/commercial side of things as to why it couldn't be shown?AndyClaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 7:09 amMaritimo streamed the game live I've just been told, while we only get Comms cam.

I know. I saw them. I don't get it either but he was trying to explain what was happening with the broadcast for Sheff Utd so assume it was for similar reasons for yesterdays game.AndyClaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 10:18 amThe goals and chances we're tweeted out within minutes of them happening.

I thought I heard Darren Bentley say that yesterday's game wasn't streamed live as Sean Dyche didn't want it.

That's in Portugal. Got nothing to do with it being streamed live in England. Apparently Dyche didn't want it.
