Rough viewing numbers look like 24m on BBC and 6m on ITV

Wonder if the ITV chiefs expected that
I wonder what proportion of that is due to the absence of adverts on the BBC?. That would certainly be a factor for me, and I wouldn't really bother checking in advance who the commentators were going to be.
(One of the reasons why I support the BBC. If every channel has adverts then I think they'll become rampant. So long as we have at least one advert free channel, then the other channels will have to limit the number of advert breaks [IMO])

I would put up with adverts for washing powder and piles treatment before subjecting my ears to Sam Matterface and Emma Hayes

Fair enough.
I rarely watch any programme with adverts. I always watch commercial channels about 20 minutes behind (or on catch-up), and then cut the ads as we go along, but you simply can't do that with a "live" sport, otherwise it's clearly "not live".

BBC having UHD HDR on iPlayer was the reason I chose them. Although I'd probably choose them anyway to avoid ads. I don't get the big deal with Matterface, there's a lot worse imo.

Itv still don't have even a decent quality stream on their itv player, it's fine though if you're watching OTA I guess.

BBC every time for me. Lineker is far better than Pougatch and Mowbray is far better than Matterface. Each to their own though although the figures clearly have BBC battering ITV.
