Robsons overall competitive record for England was pretty poor. The below includes qualification and group games
Failed to qualify to '84 Euros from a group consisting of Hungary, Greece, Luxemburg and Denmark
In the whole of the '86 campaign we managed to beat Finland, Turkey, N. Ireland, Romania, Poland and Paraguay
In the whole '88 campaign we managed to beat N. Ireland, Yugoslavia, Turkey and we lost all three games in the tournement
In the whole '90 campaign we managed to beat Albania, Poland, Egypt, Belgium and Cameroon
So in 8 years and 4 competitions the only decent team we managed to beat was Belgium with the last kick of extra time
Now DA don't let facts get in the way of some people's agenda that GS is clueless, which he quite clearly isn't BTW.
I genuinely don't know exactly what England fans expect TBH, in 3 of the 4 tournaments Gareth has managed England at we've reached at least the last 4, and compare his record with those who preceded him and he's miles ahead of the much touted big name managers who he's succeeded.
The 1st England manager to lead the country to a major final since Alf Ramsey, and losing that said final on the narrowest of margins, and yet some folks don't consider his tenure thus far a success, all this while also developing a group of young talent.
I guarantee whoever takes over the reigns from Southgate will have a tough job to emulate his achievements, even with the pool of talent at their disposal.

I don't get why people think England have such a good squad. If we could field 10 offensive players maybe. I don't think Pickford, Rice, Phillips, Maguire or Stones would make it into other top international teams.
Our attacking players are something else but you can only field so many of those.
I think Southgate did tremendously well. Deserves credit.

Couple of things really. First a lot on here suggesting that the best England manager since Ramsey is somehow ‘clueless’. What utter nonesense. Look at results. Southgate would not have been my first choice but how wrong I have been proved? And as for him being in some way anti Burnley, that’s just paranoia.
Secondly I couldn’t care less about Burnley players playing for England or any other nation, by not doing so it keeps them under the radar and away from the limelight and also reduces the risk of injury to our best players.

You don't think England have a good squad? Greenwood hasn't even got into the squad and the likes of Phil Foden isn't making the first team. I don't think there's anything to get - this England squad is very very good.

It’s almost like they are offensive players (like Dimitri stated)

You're unwise not to care less. Because effectively it means that players with serious international ambitions will avoid us at all cost.

Walker and TAA also very good and would make most top International teams - in case you didn't know, they are defenders. Stones/Maguire would also make most top International teams... they are defenders.

Isn't Henderson third choice at United after Tom? Heaton for England!

Stones and Maguire both have too many mistakes in them. Alexander Arnold can't defend. Only if would be Walker, since he manages to get out of trouble with his pace. Not saying these aren't good players, they just aren't top class imo.
The entire premise of England having a good team is based on our attacking talent and you can only field so many attacking players in one team, despite quoting my post you mentioned yet another in Greenwood.

I disagree. End of discussion I think.

Glad that Nick got a clean sheet and played well today, his save from the FK earned us a vital point.

Made a few good saves today and dealt well with a few crosses which was great to see. He showed on numerous occasions why the England argument should be put to bed though.

Yes but his kicking is bloody awful at times, even simple kicks under no pressure are poor, they never appear to improve.

Agree on his kicking, and now he's got time in the international break that's something he should be working to improve, it cost us against Arsenal, and it almost cost us today.
