This lad could make the difference between survival or not, and crucially he appears to be able to make those around him look better, and that's what class players bring to the party.

Amazing to remember we only paid 12-13m for him, shows there is bargains to be found even in the crazy market of today.

Sometimes players arriving in the PL from Europe can take time to settle in, but this guy has taken to it like a duck to water.

If we had signed a centre mid at the level of Cornet I’m pretty sure we’d be well clear of the relegation zone right now. Hopefully we can pick one up in January.

I think tiger76 nails it - Cornet has already demonstrated he's different class - if he can have a positive impact on those around him and brings their game up a level then we pose much more of an offensive threat. If we play the game further up the pitch then hopefully we can compensate for some of the weaker areas like CM until (with any luck) that's addressed in the January window

I know it’s still too early to worry about and there’s plenty of football between now and then but I hope we are prepared and ready to do early business in January. Losing Cornet for 6 games or so due to AFCON could really hurt us.

As soon as he took down Dwight's pass and cut inside you just knew "goal". I've said all along judge us when we have our best players fit and firing.

We battered a side who have given the very best problems this season.

Also for me (and for many I guess) this is the first win I've seen live since Feb 2020. Forgotten how good it feels

That's the big danger, the better he gets, the more chance there is of the bigger clubs sniffing around.

Whilst there is no doubt he’s made a brilliant start, let’s judge him at the end of the season. It’s way too early to be making some of the sweeping statements I’ve seen on here. Not trying to be a killjoy and I absolutely loved his goal today. I really hope he keeps this level of performance and finishing up.

If he keeps turning in performances as he's done since joining us, I just hope we haven't lost him to a "bigger club" in the January transfer window. Enjoy while it lasts.

I love his sweeping bow and flourish of the arm to the crowd in his goal celebration ... and the huge smile on his face as the lads surround him to congratulate him.

There was one moment in the second half when Maxwel took down a high ball, killing it instantly then back-heeling it all in one move.
Marvellous stuff from a talented lad, the sort of player who gets you off your seat when he's got the ball.

I think he will make Chris Wood a much better player. When he came we were not sure what position he was going to play. Well we know now. Hopefully he can settle ok to living in East Lancs If so we could have a superstar on our hands

He's a wonderful talent. I can't recall Burnley having a player with that combination of pace, confidence and technique in my time watching Burnley. Only Ings comes close. Some of those pull-downs yesterday were sublime, his goal was too drawer and there was 10 minutes either side of that goal when we were unplayable because he was.

But- a little bit of perspective, perhaps an unpopular opinion: I thought that apart from that 10 minutes he was a bit peripheral yesterday for long spells and whilst I understand Dyche's thinking, that second striker role doesn't look to me to suit him. Whilst the game was fairly even until Lowton scored he struggled to hold the ball or link up with teammates and he didn't make the runs teammates expected at times. That's not to say he wasn't causing Brentford a problem - he was, because of his pace and natural talent. But I think against better opponents we've still work to do to make sure he's contributing throughout the game. That will take a bit of time.

That's probably, and rightly, the long term aim.

Buy, grow and sell on with the next one lined up to replace him.
Like we did with Keane and Tarks replacing him, we just didn't have a Tarks replacement so we lost out on big money last year.

It’s not a role he’s particularly familiar with and Dyche & Woan were constantly coaching him to move in tandem with Wood- god knows what they work on all week.

I hope they persevere with him there because if he’s smashing them in from twenty yards every week he’s doing his job.

Fair comment. But yesterday he only really came to life once the game was won. Against better teams we will need more from him than he actually gave us yesterday whilst the game is in the balance.

He will in time and he's already without question one of the first names in the team sheet. I suppose I'm trying to observe why Dyche may take him off on occasions and wants him to work on his defending. And also because actually I think McNeil, Lowton tarks and Wood - and in that first half hour even the under appreciated JBG - were the greater influence in getting into that winning position.
