Gunna take the plunge and get one, should last me a good 5 years at least.

Anybody any recommendations on which one to get edging towards the expedition parka which is currently about £900. (Anybody got one how warm are they?)

This isn’t a thread for people to moan about what the fur on these coats are made out of, I’m fully aware animals are killed to make these jackets but that’s life and a whole different topic altogether.
I bought a McGregor, Canadian winter jacket in 1992. I was living in Den Haag at the time and the canals were frozen over for weeks. The jacket is still the warmest thing in my wardrobe. Keeps out the iciest of cold blasts. I've used it as my ski jacket since I first went skiing mid-90s, plus worn it to those cold freezing mid-winter games when we are all wondering if the game will be called off. So, 30+ years of doing what a winter jacket needs to do. I can imagine it will continue to be a great jacket for another 20 or 30 years.

I can't find McGregor on google. Maybe the brand has long since gone. No one was online in the 1990s.

I have the Buffalo trousers too, they are superb with full length side zips. All the Buffalo gear is built to last and the customer service is second to non, I lost the face baffle off my hood, rang them and asked if I could buy a new one, 'send a stamped addressed envelope and we'll send you one for free'. Had the replacement in less than a week. The Pertex is made in Chorley now, it used to be from Padiham, but nice to know we can still make the best clothing here in the UK.
Thanks I'll take a look at the pants I'm not all together to sure if we are allowed to discuss this product on this thread  I realized the stuff were made in the UK but I didn't know exactly where I thought Sheffield but obviously some stuff will be sourced throughout the UK such as chorley & padiham, I might spin that same line on the hood & get a free spare if my lucks in.

When the new piece came, my Mrs sewed it on with an extra bit of velcro, she knows what I'm like when I'm laid in a ditch photographing wildlife :D. I got the pants from Ray Mears shop, you can vent them if you get too hot with the side zips, and boy they are warm.

Good luck with the hood piece.

It's bad enough that the Americans expect us to believe that buffalo have wings. Now they want us to believe they wear trousers as well? :?

Thanks you definitely know your onions regarding the clothing clobber I looked into the pants my understanding is their are overtrousers so I've ordered some but gone extra in waist size, I also take photographs but not patient or stealthy enough for wildlife even with the German flecktarn I gave the game away.

A mate of mine got one from the Canada Goose shop in Manchester and was advised to "try not to wear it in the rain" as the fur will spoil and the down inside wouldn't take much moisture
Really? Whats the point then? The only time it’s not wet in Lancashire is when it’s too warm to wear one. 😂

You'll enjoy them keks, really warm; I only wear shorts under mine as they are designed to wear next to the skin for maximum benefit.

I've had my boots resoled there, excellent service and good prices with the original soles too.

How is anyone gonna see your 4k watch under a chunky Canada Goose jacket?

Coat chat.

The Alpha Industries MA1 bomber jacket was designed with an orange lining so if the pilots who wear them had to bail out in a remote area they could be easier to spot if they turned the jacket inside out to reveal the bright orange lining.
Does it convert into a body bag too in case they don’t survive the impact?

Save your money and get a £2k watch instead…
You’d need to buy a 4k watch to be able to post a thread about it though.
