Re: Dyche wanted
The thing with Wolves is they obviously want to bring in younger players which is something QPR do reasonably well and Beale has shown he can work with it. Dyche was the opposite, rarely gave young lads much game time other than the odd cup game and depended heavily on experienced pros. not saying he's right or wrong or whatever but that is maybe a big reason why QPR have looked at Beale.
Re: Dyche wanted
Dyche wasn't a fan of young players, preferred older British pros and played boring football. PL clubs want exciting football, managers with knowledge and contacts around the world to buy players because typically you get better value abroad. No PL chairman is gonna give Dyche a budget to spunk on Robbie Brady, Ben Gibson and Jeff Hendrick types whilst playing boring football, it doesn't even seem to matter how effective it has been for him.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 3:59 pmThe thing with Wolves is they obviously want to bring in younger players which is something QPR do reasonably well and Beale has shown he can work with it. Re: Dyche wanted
That is true to some extent and Dyche's ethos was born purely out of necessity.
If you can't take the big boys on at their own game, you adapt and utilise what you have to maximum advantage.
Say what you like but Dyche was a genius.
I maintain no other manager could have achieved what he did with so little, relatively, to work with on and off the pitch.

Re: Dyche wanted
Of the young lads here when Dyche was manager, how many have managed to break through under Kompany and/or have left the club to establish themselves at a similar or higher level?Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 3:59 pmThe thing with Wolves is they obviously want to bring in younger players which is something QPR do reasonably well and Beale has shown he can work with it. Does McNeil count as a young lad?GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 6:17 pmOf the young lads here when Dyche was manager, how many have managed to break through under Kompany and/or have left the club to establish themselves at a similar or higher level?

Re: Dyche wanted
Think the point is more signing younger players and having a track record of developing then selling them for profits.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 6:17 pmOf the young lads here when Dyche was manager, how many have managed to break through under Kompany and/or have left the club to establish themselves at a similar or higher level?

I can only think of Michael Keane.

Re: Dyche wanted
Aside from him.
My point was Dyche was lambasted for not giving youth a chance but barely any of them have broken through since he left or those who've left, McNeil aside, have gone on to do any better elsewhere

Re: Dyche wanted
he was here for nearly ten years and failed to bring anyone other than McNeil through - that's an abysmal record for the club (not just Dyche). My point was aimed at Beale doing it at QPR more so than Dyche notGodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 6:17 pmOf the young lads here when Dyche was manager, how many have managed to break through under Kompany and/or have left the club to establish themselves at a similar or higher level?

Re: Dyche wanted
Qpr's youth system has been better than anything at Burnley for years plus it's in a talent rich area.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 7:28 pmhe was here for nearly ten years and failed to bring anyone other than McNeil through - that's an abysmal record for the club (not just Dyche). Dyche could only work with what he had but let's not forget the youth set up had to be rebuilt during his time here and even then it was always going to take years for PL/Championship quality players to start coming through.
Most youth academies produce a very small number of first team players for their respective clubs, it's well documented, so lambasting Dyche for hardly giving youth a chance is harsh.

There are other ways of bringing in young players, the academies are not the only route.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 7:54 pmQpr's youth system has been better than anything at Burnley for years plus it's in a talent rich area.

I'm well aware of that, but we don't know what really happened within the club about scouting talent like Keane etc and what budget he had etc.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 8:39 pmThere are other ways of bringing in young players, the academies are not the only route.

Even championship teams don’t want Dyche ball can see him at an ambitious league one club maybe if he can be bothered to work again, not like he needs to.

When we take into account the alarmingly high failure rate through the academy system..GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 8:52 pmI'm well aware of that, but we don't know what really happened within the club about scouting talent like Keane etc and what budget he had etc.
What can we really expect? Could our academy produce anything likely to seriously bolster the 1st team and save the club money?.
All I've seen is us producing players at best for L1.
Re: Dyche wanted
And how many years have we had a proper academy? Not very long.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 9:56 pmWhen we take into account the alarmingly high failure rate through the academy system..

Re: Dyche wanted
The point I am trying to make is that very few clubs can get a substantial number of players from academy to first team.
A "proper academy" wouldn't guarantee us with any first-teamers.
Our 4 loanees are good examples of this, not bad players but unlikely to feature for their parent clubs

I know Dyche ball really is shocking I prefer watching rugby myself at least you get points for kicking the ball into the air.
When I saw this thread title I thought it was a new episode of 24 hours in police custody

Re: Dyche wanted
There has been a real choice of vacancies in both the PL and Championship since SD left us. The fact that SD does not appear to have come close with any is indicative of how he is perceived by the respective club owners. Unless of course he does not fancy managing again. If he does not get a club soon then we may need to file under Wilder/Bruce/Allardyce

Beale has turned Wolves down to stay at QPR, fair play to him

Re: Dyche wanted
Agreed -says a lot about him. For me I was hoping he would go as I see QPR as a serious challenger. Almost every season an unfancied club(before the season starts) manages to get into the PL from the Championship and I have a feeling it will be them. We did it first time SD took us up and we were a favorite to get relegated that seasonVegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 3:16 pmBeale has turned Wolves down to stay at QPR, fair play to him
