Re: England v Iran
That'll do nicely a cracking 2nd from Saka, assisted by Maguire's downward header, and England causing havoc at set-pieces.
Iran don't appear any great shakes, but as the saying goes you can only beat what's in front of you, and this 1st half has been an ideal start to the tournament for England.
Make that 3 Sterling getting in on the act set up by Kane.

Can't see Iran finishing with 11 on the pitch.
Re: England v Iran
As good a half as one could hope for irrespective of the opposition.

Oh the mighty Iran. They are ****. Always have been shot and always will be ****.
Like I say first decent team we play failgate will set up defensive and England will struggle and get put out.

No their challenges are becoming rasher by the minute, the biggest concern for GS and England is someone picking up a serious injury 2nd half.

Re: England v Iran
Great stuff from Eng but how poor are this lot ? . Though we’ve been handed the easiest group in history , it’s still good to smash through them and helps get plenty of players on the pitch as well

The hardest group in the competition according to rankings.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 1:53 pmGreat stuff from Eng but how poor are this lot ? . Amazing that he's still only 19 and has a wealth of Bundesliga & Champions League experience, he's destined to go right to the very top.
Heavily linked to Liverpool recently, so he might be appearing at TM next season.

Interesting that Iran have only lost 2 of their last 21 heading into this.

Liverpool should be asking Dortmund to name their price with the changes they need in midfield. What a boy.

Re: England v Iran
Very good that
Everyone playing well, and our passing, movement, pressing and finishing all top notch
Seems to be the old England of the past two tournaments, and that is good to see

Re: England v Iran
They've beaten Uruguay and drawn with Senegal during that run also, and they are usually solid at the back.
Though quite how they achieved those results I'm struggling to fathom after that first half, England have been good, but let's not get too carried away just yet far tougher tests will await.

The worst bit about this match , is listening to the drivel that comes out of Jermaine Jenus .

Irans starting eleven is stronger than I anticipated.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 2:03 pmThey've beaten Uruguay and drawn with Senegal during that run also, and they are usually solid at the back.

Azmoun and Jakanhbiash are well known players. Wales will be a good indicator of where this team is at

Germany (Musiala and Adeyemi) and Spain (Gavi and Pedri) have a fewNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 2:02 pmGot to wonder is there a team with better youth coming through?

Wales will be a stern test, though hopefully by then both teams will have qualified.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 2:04 pmIrans starting eleven is stronger than I anticipated.

Going forwards England will always create opportunities the big problem is how secure the backline will prove against better opposition.
Re: England v Iran
Bellingham that half:
- 41/41 passes (100%)
- 3/3 successful dribbles (100%)
- 3/3 tackles won (100%)
- 1 goal

Re: England v Iran
Great first half but still worrying signs at the back: needless passing about and getting caught in possession.
Good teams will pick up on this and exploit it in ways Iran don’t have the ability to.
Still worries somebody half decent could spank us like Hungary did.

Re: England v Iran
Does the goalkeeper substitution still count as a concussion sub? So is it still six subs for each team or because they delayed it is it still only five subs

Very careless offside was that
Re: England v Iran
You obviously forget the performances and results against the likes of Algeria and Iceland in past tournaments.
I’m sure you were saying that in the Euros, we beat Germany but then I bet you said ‘ah they are crap anyway’.
