Re: Argentina vs Croatia
Imo the question of all yellow cards for penalties goes to intent. As the pundits said, he had to go for it, a definite penalty, but I don't think it warrants any card.dsr wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 11:59 pmThat leads to the next question, should the keeper have been sent off for doing the same thing again for the second goal? The player had the shot, the keeper failed to touch the ball, and the attacker's momentum carried him into the goalkeeper from closer range than the last. Obviously it would have been a penalty and second yellow if the ball hadn't gone in; but should he have been booked anyway, for failing to touch the ball?
And another question. Should the Blackburn keeper have been booked for not getting out of Barnes' way after the first goal?![]()
It seems to be the norm to card the goalie in these situations, but just as every foul outside the box isn't a card, I've never understood why a card is automatic. Now if the defender hadn't been behind him, and the foul denied a goal scoring opportunity then it would be different again.

Re: Argentina vs Croatia
Argentina have had a very easy route to the final
Saudi Arabia
Mexico
Poland
Australia
And a very old Croatia team
France will batter them if they meet in the final

To be honest bud I didn’t say anything different. Other than historically and presently there are much better than us.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 10:22 pmArgentina are no better than any other 'top' team at the World Cup, a squad full of good players - the difference is they have Messi just as France have Mbappe.

Oops. Apologies. I forgot 1930 and (bizarrely) 1990.
