I have it as 16 actually, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. He took charge in mid December so 13 seems too few.

Also I've had a look and he spent next to no money so no idea where that has come from.

I'd argue his reputation took a hit because it was built on him never getting relegated from the PL, but the reality is if he couldn't keep West Brom up then its unlikely anyone else would have.
Season didn't start til mid September that year, they had some bad results yet drew with Man City, Liverpool & Chelsea weirdly

If they're desperate and daft enough to make the offer - cant blame him for accepting.
Don't think anybody is it's a good money if you can get it jammy bugger.

You know it’s an extremely short term appointment when Sammy Lee can’t take up his normal position as assistant because he’s on jury duty

Speaking with my Leeds mate, he’s a tad underwhelmed, to say the least. He’s already fed up of “the money league” as he calls it and “would rather go down with a bit of dignity than appoint Allardyce”.

Fans normally express their anger and frustration at the “money league” when they realise that their team is about to drop out of it.
Obviously hoping that Leeds don’t come straight back up. :D

To be fair, he’s said for years that he prefers the championship, where it’s a more level playing field.

Many clubs in the Championship would dispute that of course claiming that the system of Parachute Payments gives the relegated clubs a huge financial advantage.

They would but it’s probably still a lot nearer to being level than it is in the Premier League.

I don’t think that the answer is to reduce the parachute payments, which would make it near impossible for clubs to get up and stay up. Better, if possible, to increase the monies that are shared amongst the rest.

How feasible that is I don’t know - I should probably scout the MMT thread for that answer.

That's a common theme amongst fans when things aren't going so good, can't wait for the championship sick of the money league but when things are going reasonably ok & there's no danger of relegation you don't hear them sentiments they only pop up when the chips are down.

As I said above, to be fair to him, he’s said it for a long time. Certainly pre relegation fears of the last few seasons.

We’ve seen it ourselves, people get a bit bored of it after a while if it seems as though your team is simply treading water, not even flirting with relegation.

My enjoyment this season has far exceeded expectation and the last few years of Premier League football. The style helps of course but so does winning.

Ultimately, football is about hope, seeing your team doing well and having a chance of winning something - for most in the Premier League, it’s just about the money and not getting relegated, which becomes a bit meh.

I could quite happily have another season of Championship football but we’ve more than earned our reward.

It's daft really you get to where you want to be & when things go sh1tshaped you want to go back to where you came from after doing all the effort. We have certainly earned the right to join the cluster of clubs making the numbers up in the money league.

Just watched the press conference -

Sam seems notably slower, slurring his words quite a bit and also doesn’t look in great health.

This really is a desperation roll of the dice

You are doing him a disservice; he said he was more knowledgeable than either of the above. Gary Line-acre re-tweeting it with a crying laughing emoji.

Clubs only put in a call to Fireman Sam when the building is already ablaze in the hope that something can be salvaged before it collapses completely.
