A great side but that was an utterly joyless occasion. I think I enjoyed every single playoff match more than that.

It's miles better than BT Sport especially. Tonight has been abysmal on BT Sport.TheOriginalLongsider wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 10:13 pmI watched on CBS - Thierry Henri, Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher. Not watched CBS before but it was good. Not the usual Sky/BT drivel. Seemed like they were given freedom to say/do what they want.
Well done city. That will be Burnley in 2025!!

The source of City's money is problematic so I understand why people have issues but every very successful side has had more money than their competitors at some point. Blackburn Olympic, Bayern, Barcelona. You name it.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 10:14 pmI love it when people like you don't like it when City keep winning trophies. I'm in Milan(o)
The atmosphere was electric this afternoon. During the game you could sense the tension. Lots of bars closed early for the second half. Watched the last 20 in our hotel ,
Was explaining to the locals I was a Burnley fan not City in case they wanted to vent their frustration on someone
.
Lots of vendors trying to sell inflatable trophys will be trading st a loss though.

Re: City v Inter. The Purist Treble.
Back when Liverpool won their first European final, despite being an ardent Burnley fan I desperately wanted the English team to prevail and I actually took pride in the fact that that they did. Regarding tonight and City I started off feeling completely indifferent and ended up praying for an Inter equaliser. City have not only blatantly bought the cup, but they have quite obviously done it in contravention of UEFA's FFP rules. The only reason they've got away with this is clearly because they have way, way deeper pockets than even UEFA regarding lawyers and time in court etc, etc and they made that very, very that clear. So UEFA folded. Everything City ever win these days is a scam and I, as a Brit take no pride in it whatsoever. Joke!

Never really understood supporting sides in finals just because it's the English side. If it isn't Burnley then I'm not too bothered other than wanting it to be a good game.

I’ve just looked into it out of interest & Man City come out on top.in all areas with regard to money being spent, but as you rightly say other sides have spent less money but substantial amounts nevertheless without fully achieving. I don’t think anybody can argue money hasn’t helped but he’s certainly made the most of the vast resources.roperclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 11:56 pmNot particularly. City have had a strategy and have executed it brilliantly.
They are also accused of breaking the financial rules on an industrial scale.

Re: City v Inter. The Purist Treble.
Actually thought Inter had the better chances and showed how to play against this current version of City with the 3-2-4-1 formation
Might have been a different story had Kevin De Bruyne stayed on mind but they did enough.. just

Re: City v Inter. The Purist Treble.
Thought Inter played really well and had at least two chances where they just had to score. Man City had some chances too of course and did just enough but if you're Inter you've got to be a bit gutted. Tactics were excellent, City had an off night, created some really good chances but didn't put them away.

Re: City v Inter. The Purist Treble.
It possibly does, yes. No doubt about it he has definitely brought something to the game that wasn’t there before his arrival.
I particularly like how he’s developed and coached that Haaland fella into a really good forward….
Seriously though, he obviously knows what he’s doing, and even the best players in the world need coaching and organising.
Re: City v Inter. The Purist Treble.
Tbf, Inter are just TOO good a side to allow Man City to play their game and Man City were never going to be capable of winning by a big margin in the final against such opposition.Pickles wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 12:42 amThought Inter played really well and had at least two chances where they just had to score. The headline is: The dismal story of modern football can be summed up in two words: Manchester City.
You can guess the rest
