It’s also not being about happy about the current situation - fans are not walking off the games happy. But some are able to put things in a bit of context.
Well said Big Vinny K.

I do love to see the trolling posters on here use derogatory terms towards other fans like “happy clappers”. There isn’t a single true Burnley fan that is happy at the moment.

I find it utterly depressing but am able to put it in context. Like look at the squad value, experience, quality WHU have available to them. We have no right to be able to compete with them but we did.

Then look at our progress generally as a club…

Look at where our squad was a year ago and how it looks today.

Look at how we have a manager who has unearthed gem after gem (relatively cheaply). Even if we went down I’d back him to be able to attract top young players. Not only that he’s an absolute professional and great ambassador for our club.

Maybe less exciting for some but we also have high profile investors now, engaging with fans.

I don’t think we spent the £100m quoted, and if we did it’ll have been heavily incentivised, but at least we have a board investing now vs a chairman who barely spent a penny towards the end of his reign.

We’ve come a long way after relegation and it could’ve panned out much much worse.

I disagree 100%. I also didn't see much improvement if any in Brownhill at all
I'd get that firestick looked at if I were you.

Yeah, just write that £100m off as a learning experience. No biggie. '

In VK we trust.
Why do people keep saying £100m? It’s probably nowhere near that figure.

Also he’s had to build two squads in 12 months.

What’s the net spend?

An excellent post, a very welcome slice of commonsense and perspective, poles apart from the excessive negativity and huge over reaction we are witnessing in most threads.

It isn't. People like hyperbole though, makes everything seem more extreme than it is.

He’s done two huge rebuilds in 12 months, both had to be done. It’s like when Forest went up with loan players, they ended up spending over £150m and brought in 20+ players. It took time for them to finally start gelling and winning games, they stuck with Cooper and got rewarded for it.

I don’t see the point of keep repeating £100m £100m £100m when we probably haven’t spent anywhere near that.

What’s the net spend then? Like £50m since he walked through the door?

I think £100m is probably close to reasonable and I don't really see why the net spend is relevant since the only difference it highlights is we sold some of Dyche's/Pace's players for a lot of money before they could play a minute under Kompany.

It might be better to point out that while the last window looks very unbalanced 13 games isn't an appropriate period of time to decide that we wasted every last penny of it.

The net spend is relevant in the same way as the wage bill is relevant or any new investment is relevant or repayment of any debt (or better loan terms) is relevant.

Looking at the £100m spend or whatever the figure is in isolation means that some will use that to deal in the extremes as to how bad things are - betting the ranch ; fire sale etc….all those kind of terms we have seen on here.

And that does not mean that some fans think it’s been a summer of successful transfer dealings and spend - it simply means that some fans might not think we are done for !!

It’s that simple this game is massive. With Luton winning today we are 6 points from safety.
The usual ill thought out opening statement - 6 points puts us on 10 points. Hardly what I would consider 'Safety'.

With 75 points available we need around 33 to be in with a shout of Safety

We have two to three sellable players that are worth more and plenty that are worth less currently. Koleosho is the only one from the £100 million Some of last seasons are worth more than we paid though.

As for better players from the £100 million:

Delcroix No
O Shea No
Tresor No
Ramsey No
Amdouni Jury’s Out
Trafford No
Brunn Larsen Yes ( Loan)
Koleosho Yes
Berge Yes
Would you like to reassess your thoughts after Sat??

I haven't read this thread...literally not a word of it apart from the title....

....but I'd see it as a good way of assembling all our fannys and bellends in one place.

Heckingbottom has said its 200 million we have spent. Maybe like his team he has lost the plot.

Passed that test with flying colors as he has done in all of the crunch games since he's been in charge.

Liked the mid games leading up to it as well - truly emphasising how big of a game it was.

Good stuff Vincent, now lets use it as a catalyst!

Weather presenter on BBC this evening “temperatures could drop to as low as MINUS 12 overnight”. Nothing resembling that figure was showing on the weather map but apparently that reading could be recorded somewhere in the Scottish Highlands.
