I think VK’s introduction of Benson and Tresor yesterday was quite telling. Players who he obviously believes are the most likely to create a goal out of nothing at a point in the season where there was absolutely nothing to lose, but obviously not trusted in any other scenario.
I think it suggests he still wants them. Looking at last season the players he really didn't want like Churlinov and Bastien by the end, couldn't get a kick.

I just wonder if they are the 2 that have disappointed him with their training levels, going off The Athletic article.
That's something that can be rectified hopefully.

What I meant was that there has been criticism for freezing Benson out, however when it was sh!t or bust and we needed a goal to preserve our PL status he brought him on earlier than I can recall him doing all season. So he obviously rates the ability of these players but has a lack of trust in their work rate or discipline.

Thought it was crazy to bring Benson on even though I've been wanting this every single game while we had hope. The guy has barely played yet Vinny wants him to come in and somehow get 2 goals back. Never gonna happen, he's treated Benson abysmally and I don't blame him for wanting out at the end of the season if that is indeed what he wants. Literally the only guy who gets fans off their seats and who we have a song about at least and he benches him for 98% of the time.

Yep I think it's probably fair that he doesn't have that trust in their discipline. The work rate required in those roles for a struggling team in the PL is massive. Why he then decides to play Vitinho there who offers nothing going forwards and then can't even do the defensive side of the role (see 1st goal yesterday along with countless other examples over the season) is mind boggling. At least play JBG who is a technically decent footballer, well disciplined and surprisingly good in the air. I'd even stick Brownhill there over Vitinho, he played there quite a lot under Dyche and for Bristol City I believe.

When a team is as bad at all aspects of defending as we are, it’s hard to argue that someone is left out for their lack of tactical discipline. If that even exists that is because I’ve seen very little evidence this season.

Parker just confirmed today he is back training with the team this week. Not in contention for selection but good to see him mentioned in a positive light.

There are some haters on here but for me, he gets a fresh slate (as all the players did this season) Really hoping we see him this side of Christmas and what he might be able to contribute over the season.

I'm not sure I'd say haters, just folk questioning what his contribution has been for the huge fee and wages.
Clean slate for me and ive no doubt he will be far too good for this league, but I'd say the criticism is understandable so far

I had genuinely seen so little of him last season to make a proper opinion. He last appeance was what, January? Majority of last season I want to forget ever happened in more ways that one.

I am very excited to see with a full squad what we can achieve. The depth on the bench is enormous and we have some long term injuries to come back still.

*Proper appearance I mean, not stoppage time wasting sub.

Liverpool game boxing day last time he had more than 20 mins (61mins)

If he puts the effort in i'm sure the crowd will get behind him. Last season he looked as though he'd rather be somewhere else and barely broke a sweat.

Still seems a bit of an odd situation. Hasn't he been training for 4 or 5 weeks now?
He wasn't out that long, they are talking as if he was out for a year

It's not been a year, but if it was he certainly wouldn't be the first to be out for that long.

Perhaps lets just give the lad a chance under the new regime ...

It wasn't just MT who failed under VK last season.

He's certainly been a waste of resources so far and is an unknown
quantity as regards ability and certainly commitment.

Fingers crossed he comes good for us - the sooner the better.

Parker said he’s been “showing his quality”

I get the feeling he rates him but no chance he’ll be near a Matchday squad any time soon

We will.never know probably but anytime something comes out it never gives the impression of a player that really wants to put on a Burnley shirt.

How infuriating is the MT conundrum.
Loads of ability but unable/unwilling to produce it.
New manager,new team,back to fitness-no more excuses.
Really hope he makes it.

Strikes me as too laid back and sensitive for Kompany’s rather belligerent style of management. Would seem far better suited to Parker, whether the reverse is true remains to be seen, but I see his creativity and set pieces as things we sorely lack at the moment.

He came on at Spurs away! And was on the bench pretty since Christmas onwards only for a few mins here and there.

Boxing day Liverpool was his last proper performance. Think he got injured in pre-season.

If he can get fit and play how he can it will be a massive MASSIVE boost to our chances this season. Very good player when motivated and on it.

Just back from hols in Croatia and met some Antwep football fans. They obviously knew a lot about Mike Tresor and described him as fast, skillful and tricky which was encouraging. They were quick to say they felt the English PL was streets ahead of the top Belgian league, and they were keen to see how MT would do with us. They knew Benson even better of course and were less complimentary and mentioned his tendency to get injured regularly.

Do you have inside knowledge to know that he’s a very good player I haven’t seen any of his performances that would even put him in the mediocre class only stats from a very inferior Belgium league.

I think the illness must have taken a lot of recovery, that'll be why they are taking their time.

I would imagine SP is listening to the player himself too, so we may just have a FIT and HAPPY Tresorection imminent...

You'd think it'd do the players reputation some good on this occasion to give a bit more info regarding this illness. A couple of throwaway comments from Parker is a bit poor when we are talking about one of our record signings who's hardly been seen since signing

Oh dear, yet another opportunity to have a pop at the manager. Give it a rest and support the club with a bit more enthusiasm - it might cheer you up.

I'm thinking it might be something the player will talk about when he's ready to.

Not sure. I don't really care as long as he's ok and can start to play for us soon.
