Fair enough. It will be interesting to see what transpires over the next 12 months or so. I presume any consultancy fees should be fairly transparent in this current years’ accounts and likewise with any income generated by MUD.aggi wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 8:47 pmIt's possible, doesn't strike me as that likely. That kind of thing gets overly complicated very quickly which is why it tends to not happen.
Personally my guess would be that they're on a flat fee and Kompany hopes to make a decent return by selling the company on at some point.

Re: Weghorst
Anyway, getting back to Weghorst. I think he is a decent player and could do a job for us next season.
Better to get a good season out of him than simply loaning him out again and letting his contract run down.

Re: Weghorst
He would never, ever play for us in the Championship so it's completely irrelevant

He definitely wouldn't play for us in the Championship, but it would be funny watching a Dutch international being made to warm up along the Bob Lord touchline against Plymouth.
Re: Weghorst
If I remember correctly he played in a couple of pre season friendlies prior to our Championship campaign two seasons ago?Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 9:31 pmHe definitely wouldn't play for us in the Championship, but it would be funny watching a Dutch international being made to warm up along the Bob Lord touchline against Plymouth.
He is contracted to play for Burnley FC so if the new manager is keen on him and can motivate him why wouldn’t he play for us in the Championship?
He is in the last few years of his career and a good season in the Championship could benefit him immensely.

Sorry Jamesy, but have you not learnt anything from his time with us?

I can guarantee you he won't play for us in the championship. You are talking sh1t.Jamesy wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 9:37 pmIf I remember correctly he played in a couple of pre season friendlies prior to our Championship campaign two seasons ago?

Re: Weghorst
You do know that MUD is basically just a ‘super database’ with player stats etc… that clubs basically subscribe to and this gives the club access to its information and suitable players that meet search criteria kind of thing.
Re: Weghorst
Yes just access. But not free access.Nothing comes free. You get the access to potential Swiss international talent like Amdouni, then when you sign him a fee becomes payable.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 9:47 pmYou do know that MUD is basically just a ‘super database’ with player stats etc… that clubs basically subscribe to and this gives the club access to its information and suitable players that meet search criteria kind of thing.
Re: Weghorst
Again, how do you know this?
Access to Amdouni gets made by giving his agent a bell and sending Basel some money. Anyone can do that. So how do you seem to know the exact specifics of how it works, yet no one else does?

Drunk taio is one of my favourite characters on here.
It's like when you get the really stuffy guy at work to finally sink a few and they turn out to have a foul mouth.

I will wait to see who the new manager is before I consider your wager. I’m not averse though to giving to hospices, I subscribe monthly to two here in Shropshire who do excellent work.
I did however react to you saying I was talking shite. Let’s revisit this in a few weeks.

Never said it was free, just not some huge expense and thing some folk make of it.
It’d be interesting to see a comparison of its cost compared to having a physical worldwide scouting network.

Re: Weghorst
I don’t know how it works. But it is obvious they aren’t just doing it for a nominal fee. Are you just trying to argue for arguing sake?
All I said many posts ago was that I didn’t think it was ethical for Mud to be sourcing players for Burnley FC considering Kompany has a vested financial interest in this company as a director and shareholder, that’s all.
Re: Weghorst
Yes it would. However we won’t be able to see this information for a while yet so none of us know the true cost of it.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 9:58 pmNever said it was free, just not some huge expense and thing some folk make of it.

All I know is that Vincent Kompany is intrinsically linked with this company and that doesn’t sit well with me.
Re: Weghorst
Ah it’s just how you are stating ‘how it works’ as fact, so I was presuming you must have heard or read exactly how MUD are getting paid in the partnership, hence the questions.Jamesy wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 10:03 pmI don’t know how it works. In my view it’s far more likely it’s a straight forward flat consultancy fee, that’s typically what these boutique recruitment firms are doing. You are obv welcome to your view too, but at least now we know it’s just an opinion and not fact!
And yeah, I can see why you’d think that way, I see it as a good opportunity to get highly respected minds in the space like Lee Mooney involved in the club. Will be interesting to see ‘what happens next’ on all fronts.

Don’t worry about that pal. You have wiped said mouth with the Andrex or Tesco cushion soft or whatever bum/mouth fodder you use.

Re: Weghorst
It’s really no biggie, VK’s left the building and the board will decide to continue with MUD or use other similar services/systems like we did prior. Guess it will depend on whether they think it’s provided suitable results thus far.
It seems to me that VK’s involvement with mud is probably one of bank rolling a new start business hoping it succeeds and gives him a return on his investment in time.
It’s just modern football in the upper echelons.

Re: Weghorst
It doesn't matter if you think the MUD Analytics involvement at Burnley is corrupt or if you think it's great, Weghorst was still an awful signing who won't play for us again.

I think it’s unlikely he’ll play, but I would love to see it. He’s a top player that would simply be one of the best in the squad.daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 11:35 pmIt doesn't matter if you think the MUD Analytics involvement at Burnley is corrupt or if you think it's great, Weghorst was still an awful signing who won't play for us again.
Re: Weghorst
Would be interesting if Ruud Van Nistelrooy gets in at Burnley, he is a BIG fan of our Weggie.

Re: Weghorst
After our p1ss poor recruitment it should be renamed MUDDLED Recruitment.

I'll be glad when the season starts, whoever is in charge looking at some of the absolute nonsense some people post on here (and no doubt twitter, Facebook etc)
How many posts can you make about toilet paper brands before someone takes the phone off you?

If you care to read the thread in its entirety it was a retort to being accused of talking out of one’s @rse.
Perhaps telling people they are talking out of their @rse on this board is not a problem but references to toilet rolls should be banned by those people in charge who you say should be looking at the absolute nonsense posted?
So when the season starts you think you will see an end to this nonsense? Good luck with that.
And whilst you are here, do you have any meaningful views on Wout Weghorst?

Re: Weghorst
Just seen this, great that he’s hit some sort of form.
I’d actually really like to keep him for his final season, if his attitude was going to be right. If he fired us back to the prem it’d definitely be better than whatever kind of fee we’d get for him.
Great that he’s hitting some international form though. Hope it continues in the Euros and we are able to secure a good fee if he’s not staying.

There is more chance of Michael Mellon playing in the Championship for Burnley than Wout Weghorst.
Would love to see it but it definitely isn't going to happen.
