I don't follow xG like you, but if we go off watching slow motion replays.

Foster chance. Nice cut back but the defender is very tight and probably blocks a shot on target. Then the GK is right on the post if it gets past the defender.
Look from behind the goal.

Koleosho shot from outside of box. Straight down middle, not beating a keeper from there.

Brownhill has the best chance. Clear sight of cross at a good height. He hits it wide at Houndi who just has a split second to react.

It's poor they didn't hit the target, but I can't say I expected any of them to score.
…..and Sarmiento?

Yeah poor finish. I presume he's left footed?

Needs to be on target. Looks our best chance but that angle doesn't show how close the defender is to blocking the net.
Should at least hit the defender though.

yep, better players than him blaze shots over the bar but it's a careless attempt. Hopefully that's the only one he fluffs :D

I doubt it.

I've been to hundreds of games and always check highlights for close up views.

Exactly. The level of entitlement is ridiculous.
We could well be out of the top 6 in a month or so, what will it be like on here if this is the case?

quite an amusing stance you are trying to take when loads of those that go to games have said things like "I thought it was a hard chance but couldn't really see from my view" etc and rely on the highlights to re-watch things.

Because they didn't sit back like Cardiff and Luton, if the opposition sits deep we can't break them down with our sideways backwards football, Parker will hopefully find a way to beat this style, on another note after x7 league game's Kompany had 12 points Parker's got 14 so he must doing something right

And this thread is the reason I hardly ever read this message board anymore. New manger and team. 4th in league. Lost once all season. Lots of injuries. I really do think we have the dumbest fans in England.

People are clinging to the 7 good months VK gave us and now think it's the standard for every season.

We all had a very good view of Sarmiento’s miss - and his reaction to it - thank you. Obviously better than someone watching on a stream and highlights who seemed to have missed it

I really, honestly, genuinely do not understand the thinking of some people on here. We are playing in what is considered to be one of the hardest leagues in the world and, considering the almost biblical exodus of players and the work needed doing by Parker and his team we are actually doing very well. We have lost 1 game 1-0 away to a promotion hopeful at a time when we were all wondering when the leaving would stop. We are averaging a points per game that would win us the Championship if we carry on as we are. And the chances are that given a little more time and a bit of luck with injuries we are probably going to get even better. We were one goal away from being top this weekend. What’s wrong with that? We used to criticise the big club fans in the PL for being entitled but what I’m seeing on here is the same attitude from some Clarets. Someone said ‘we should be beating teams like Oxford’. Why? They had a 100% home record before Saturday.
The strange thing is many of the detractors on here were massive Dyche fans who obviously did a fantastic job for us but the football was dreadful, and yet they are criticising Parker’s style. We are and will be a different team under Parker than under Kompany, get used to it and enjoy the ride. As someone has rightly pointed out we are 2 points better off than we were at this stage under Kompany and look what happened there.

If anyone considers it one of the hardest leagues in the world, the only sensible reason for that is that a few of the teams are loads richer than the others and have some really good and well-paid players. I would suggest that if you are one of those teams, you are not one of the ones who will find it hard.

Fans of Fulham and Bournemouth wouldn’t have been complaining about lack of a cutting edge under Parker in the Championship since in the seasons that these clubs were promoted Mitrovic scored 26 goals and Solanke scored 29. If we don’t have a striker at the club anywhere close to that level then it becomes a lot more difficult and goals have to be spread around. Without a main striker capable of scoring 15+ goals getting out of the Championship by finishing in the top 2 would seem unlikely.
I don't mean a cutting edge in terms of a striker, more that his teams could play it around a lot but struggled to break down and score against teams who sat back. Although Fulham had Mitrovic scoring 26 goals they only scored 64 in total (we scored 87 last time round for comparison) and against the bottom 4 they got 9 points from a possible 24 scoring less than a goal a game.

It may be that he's learnt from this but the last few games of lots of possession but not much penetration do seem to reflect what people said about his previous appointments (although of course they both ended in promotion).

I'm very happy with the season so far. Parker told us there would be bumps in the road. We heard it, but we're seemingly choosing to ignore it. Although I'm happy that we are two points better off than our last promotion season at the same stage, it's probably best not to keep mentioning it, as it will soon change. But some will judge Parker by comparison with the season end points total, to two seasons ago. Unfair, unreasonable and unrealistic.I think there are a lot of fans who do not enjoy football, only exciting and winning football, which only happens occasionally.
We even have critics of the top Premier league teams, including Man City. Think about that!!

Oxford fans on the BBC comments section were almost all saying how happy they were with a draw. Despite most of the game being played in their half they were not complaining about their team, just praising them for an outstanding defensive performance against a ‘very good side’. It seems the only place we are getting criticised is by certain sections of this forum.

for me, seems two completely different camps offering different views and facts, plus stats. Glass half empty or half full, I can easily agree with many comments from both sides, definitely to slow at times, definitely feel we should be scoring more, the only time I have really seen any defense splitting balls have come from our LB, and not from midfield. We definitely don't have the goal scorer we had in VK's season, and that is a big difference!

Yes, it's early days, lots of starters not available, new coach working with many new players and clearly lots of room for improvement, but even then, we dominated, just didn't score, so I think we will definitely improve, but maybe not in time for tomorrow's game, like many I think Flemming was a big miss, hopefully he is not out to long.

Defense looks better than in VK's early games, so that is a bonus, even at this stage.

End result for Saturday, very frustrating and must do better, but the future looks bright, so I am going to be in the half full glass camp.

It really wasn't that bad. A few facts.

Oxford had won all of their previous 3 home games.

We had a massive amount of possession but just struggled to open them up. This was also a factor in a few of the opening games in the Kompany promotion season.

If we had scored 1 of the 2 gilt edged chances for Sarmiento or Hountondji most people would be saying how had won a tricky away fixture at a team who had a 100% home record.

Fair play to Oxford as they defended really well just as we did at Leeds.

3 games unbeaten and we are averaging 2 points a game.
Don't state the facts, please.

Oh the hypocrisy

Fair play to Oxford … they did what they needed to do to get what they thought would be at best a point
